In 1988, The army initiated the LOSAT (Line Of Sight Anti-Tank) program. The program was scaled down and then canceled by the Department of Defense in 1992 and 1996 respectively, but the Army had managed to restart the program, which Lockheed Martin was then awarded the contract the produce the MGM-166 LOSAT. Lockheed Martin fitted the MGM-166A onto the HMMWV chassis, which was designated as the M1114 LOSAT carrier. Due to the compact carrier, the M1114 LOSAT carrier could easily and rapidly be transported by air, with up to 10 being fit on a C-5. Testing was successful, and the Army ordered a LRIP batch of both MGM-166 missiles and M1114 carriers to be made, but they canceled the program in the summer of 2004.
I figured since we already have the CCVL LOSAT carrier, we can have it’s smaller, goofier, cousin, the LOSAT carrier M1114.
