M109 mobile artillery

You can use them like proper artillery. Ive seen people do it before.

The problem is that its incredibly ineffective and many of the maps are too small.

Changing it to something similar to the world of tanks style of Artillery is an incredibly terrible idea.

Hey, bud I have news for you they do in World of Tanks and the maps are smaller Than War Thunders and that’s another thing that kind of gets me upset War Thunder is downsizing the maps and that’s not right it’s BS There taking all the fun out of gameplay taking all the sniper sites down in mountainous terrain putting big boulders up that you can’t get around they’re blocking all the fun spots that you can find on the map and that’s not right neither but the reason they are doing it is because you hackers get killed the lot and you don’t know where it’s coming from because you got sniped ever that it’s the design team that gets killed a lot and play say we got to put big boulders up there to block tanks from getting up there on the side of the mountain

World of Tank’s artillery system is not something I wish to see in War Thunder.

Something i agree with.

But that already happens in this game let’s see you have laser-guided bombs air to ground missiles helicopters and only some players that can see you all the way across the battlefield but you can’t see them that take you out, and then on top of this you have ground to air anti aircraft radar that can see through trees buildings blah blah blah you know it’s just not right when it can’t happen it’s impossible so your point is what? And I’m talking about realistic mode! not arcade mode and it will be more realistic if you don’t have a third-person view where you’re outside of your tank looking around. The only view you should have is from the TC hatch you should be able to look around from there and nowhere else and then the Sighting systems are all wrong in this game! The M7 calls artillery fire or guides precision guided munitions on the designated targets. All target designation is performed from within the vehicle, under armor protection. Vehicle also carries portable equipment for dismounted observers. And all the M7 is is an overgrown Bradley but it was specifically designed for calling artillery It obtains precise range information to the target via its laser rangefinder and other sensors. It estimates target coordinates with a push of a button. Vehicle has a built-in battle management system with a GPS, and inertial navigation system. This system determines location of the vehicle on the map, as well as targets coordinates. The M7 calls to fire nearby artillery units via a digital battle management system. There is an identification system which prevents calling fire on friendly units. On a number of occasions the M7 demonstrated that it can put precision indirect fire on the target with standard 155 mm artillery shells. Standard shells land within 50 meters from the designated target. In case with guided munitions, it illuminates the target by a laser beam, allowing the laser-guided munitions to detect and hit the target. Furthermore this armored vehicle can target artillery while on the move. The M7 features a dramatic improvement over the previous M981 forward observation vehicle or the M-901. These were going to be the only vehicles that would be allowed to call two call artillery from the M109 or other mobile artillery pieces

I mean you can, you just need to use the bigger maps and a bit of careful planning. Its easier with vehicles like the AVRE though can be done with the M109.

Spoiler

Using an M109, and yes, I killed the Jpanther from pretty much behind cover.

while not a TD IRL, its the closest classification for in game vs its real life capacity and usage. Calling them SPGs would just be kind of, moot? A bit like for the UK using cruiser tank definitions would be. Same thing exists for Armoured cars and IFVs, they are not light tanks, but in WT, they perform a similar enough role.

Also, you can expand on what I was doing there with higher BR vehicles using a drone to spot for the artillery, again, you just have to maths it out and correct your ranging.

Basically what playing air is like at this point.

Exactly.

Beside, you can make some ‘artillery strike’ with a Scout/Drone and Low Velocity gun.

I’m not saying you’re wrong, because i would love to play m109 as arty and rain death upon my foes, but I have destroyed a Tiger II with a turret shot from the HE shell in the m109

Oh God, please, just punctuate your sentences! What a pain to read. Also I think your opinion on artillery sucks :). Artillery vehicles are fun in WT just the way they are.
