M1 Abrams munitions compared to Object 292

Dart weight means nothing.

Would you bet on that? I havent seen a single source that could reliably clarify how spall or post pen damage in game actually works and what it depends on despite ppl stating that its residual pen after succesful pen. But is that the only thing that matters?

I feel like it probably isnt since otherwise the sub caliber darts of for example the aubl or the VCC 80/60 would still create very good spall when penning lightly armored targets (well not 20-40 mm or basically paper, but 100mm?). Which they dont.

Should be the opposite but Gaijin is too lazy to model it because it requires actual calculations and spalling methods.

Haven’t you seen the video ?

Why wouldn’t it be ?
Things like mass, speed, etc. are already accounted for in penetration values.

<76mm and >76mm darts use different spalling presets.

It might not be the correct way but I feel like it’s the most optimal way, considering the calculation tax those things would have if done fully realistic.

I have seen videos :-D which one?

Maybe im just a bit dumb here and not enough into the whole penetration calculation and different types of apfsds, long rod-short rod business, but if thats the case then how does M900, a 105 mm dart going at 1505 m/s pen 522 mm flat at 0 m and 302 mm at 60° with a 3.8 kg penetrator while dm23, a 120 mm 4.3 kg penetrator going at 1640 m/s pens 408 mm flat at 0 m and 236 mm at 60° if nothing else comes into play?

And will that mean that m900 spalls more shooting at the exact same armor after penning compared to dm23 in game?

Here’s the reason a Gaijin was founded in Russia, and all they do is buff Russian tanks, but not Western tanks, North Korea ahh

From Zenturion.

Things like rod length and material definitely come into play when you calculate it’s penetration values, but once that’s done, penetration values are used to determine spalling.

Yes.

I see. ill go look for the video, probably already seen it and forgor, but as it is in game, double tap never hurt no one.

So it is residual penetration combined with the spall presets (Or NoSpall presets…insert space to make fun of rooikat Mk1D) used for different calibers of apfsds which is solely used to calculate post pen spall…

Rather than bein optimal its the easy way since their spaghetti codes will most likely not be able to handle it.

He even gave you an example of stock M735 vs M735 with a mass of 2000kg.

That thing lost the “lottery” considering it has a 76mm gun.

It’s definitely a win-win for them.
Easier to code and has a smaller impact on performance, so less people will complain about WT being unoptimized and things like that.

Interesting, actually i didnt see that video yet. Thx i learned or confirmed something today.
Do you also happen to know if the damage shown in the damage window shows spall in general, since i kinda remember posts stating that (at least the in game top right damage window) might only show spall that actually hit crew or modules. So it might be that theres more spall present, but that just didnt hit anything important or got eaten by additional internal armor plates not visible on the review window) Not sure about (server side) replays tho.

Yeah because they are too stingy to change game engine so they rather keep everything as simple as possible while claiming to be an ‘‘realistic’’ game.

Have no idea about that one.

I think this is why he used such an old vehicle as a test dummy.
I suppose it has way less internal things that can mess up the calculation.

Game engine changes are probably the last thing they want to do as revenue from that is pretty low.
It’s always easier to fill up your pockets by selling premium after premium, right ?

I feel like WT has been realistic only on paper for it’s whole lifetime. You don’t need simplified spalling calculations to see that, as the very core of the game is pretty arcade-y.

Not really being shown is it

A dumb one

So the game automatically makes you switch to the apfsds when the ammo blows out.
I can show you a clip

IQ has nothing to do with your understanding of how a video game works.

That number being real is still very questionable
