Simple solution to M1 Abrams “problem” . Since this tank is on 10.7 it should be given better round. Lets talk opttions . M833 is litteraly M413 Israeli ammo. As the ammo is old some data is public. Lets compare M833~ 1485–1494 m/s M413~ 1455–1480 m/s that is bullet velocity and as we know from physics lessons speed is how we beat armor. Penetration of RHA M833~ 395–420 mm / M413 ~380–410 mm those are numbers at point blank but on 2km range M833 ~368–375 mm M413 ~350–360 mm. Sooo in game penetration values of those two shells are completly diffrent than from real official data. Also the Israeli ammo is only tungsten round when M833 is DU so it is more effective to angled armor such as … T72,T80, T90 etc. So first of all the M833 should have around 440 pen by War thunder standards knowing that M413 have 421mm. Tthat will put the standard Abrams able to fight new more armoured tanks more easily but still would not be as effective as Challanger DS and Leo2a4 due to lack of meat in shell (lower caliber). 10.7 would fit but 10.3 would not be as OP as other people see. Lets not forget that TurmsT have 460 pen as well as T80UD of course less mobility but Kontakt 5 does its job pretty effectily. Also lets not FORGET that T90A with 3BM60 LWS/LR and Sztora-1 is on 11.0… This tank should be on 11.3 as well as the latest T72B3M arena. This armor with APS and ERA is straight up Rostec plan to angry NATO players
M-833 is a fairly minor buff, so I don’t think it would be an issue giving it to the M1 at its current BR.
Most APFSDS are underperforming, and yes that includes Russian ones. From what I understand it’s due to Gaijin using a formula that only works for mono-block tungsten APFSDs values.
Irrelevant, only residual pen matters for long rods.
M1 is fine, really. I find it doing more for me than Leo2A4 these days.
Even by current WT standards M833 will do something because 370 pen with 105mm gun is a warcrime when Leo2a4 have 120mm with 408mm pen. Challanger have 471mm pen with 120mm gun, China ZTZ have 466mm pen with 125mm gun, heck even Ariete P have 488mm pen with 120 gun, the AMX40 have 391mm pen XDD of course their Leo2a4 have 408mm pen , as well as Sweden with their Leo2a4 and strv 408mm pen with 120 gun. Israel with Magach on 9.3 have M413 whitch ahve 421mm pen as well as their Merkava Mk1 have same shell. Yes and yes Abrams is faster and more mobile than all tanks mentioned above but mobility in War Thunder does not matter that much when game on top tier is litteraly campers vs campers . Also the maps are small as fuck. Even bigger version of maps are small because after some area there is no point in going there. The 120S have 600 pen , Israelis Sabra have 580 pen. Yes those tanks are slow but 120S have M1A1 turret and that blocks stuff . There is litteraly no issue in adding M1’a even the M900 ammo but M833 with 440 pen is needed as much as americans needs to bomb someone or their gets trigger happy with buttons
Ok, right of the bat I said I’m fine with the M1 getting M833 and staying at it’s current BR, there is no need to come at me like you caught me pissing in your corn flakes (that’s a breakfast cereal Mods not slang for something inappropriate), honestly they need to rework how APFSDS damage is calculated.
