It has only disadvantages over the M44.

… Huh? 4.0BR is fairly generous, imho. It could go up to 4.3-4.7BR, but no higher.
Not pleased that 203mm HE can smack a KV-2 in the back of the head and do nothing to it, though. Gaijin needs to cut that noise with the bad coding.

It doesn’t matter much if its 1.0 or 4.0, it always has the disadvantage of being a fat cardboard box with an insanely long reload.
3.7 is the lowest it can go. anymore lower it performance has to be as awful as the 15cm sIG 33 B Sfl
compared to the M44 - there is no reason to play it or what am i missing?

I love it. It’s got a big boy gun, it has a long barrel with a good shell velocity - it’s easy aim, you can do some sniping. At the same time, it’s very mobile for what it is, so you can kill enemies up close and do the reload dance while you wait for the next shell to ready:

so play the M44 instead of advocating for this to go even lower
M44 hasn’t got as good velocity, etc. All it has is better reload. Plus it’s open top. Eitherway, it’s irrelevant, as one being better than the other doesn’t mean they should have different BR. Look at each tech tree and you’ll see the same situation at each BR. T72A being same BR as T64A, for example.
Only thing worse about m55 is less rounds and more reload.
Everything else is arguably better, better chassis, better engine, technically better crew protection, etc
Not to mention it shoots a small bomb
