Long range helis in ground rb

It’s kind of ridiculous how op helis like the eurocopter and yah-64 and ka-50 can be in ground rb. once they have access to their 5km+ missiles, they can just hover over their helipad, launch 6-8 missiles, and duck back down. the only recourse for action is for somebody to spawn another cas vehicle or to leave the match.

so why not move the heli spawn out? like way further out. try 8-10km instead of 5km. make helis leave their spawn for more than 5 seconds in order to star shooting at ground players. that means more time spent in transit both ways, and prevents players from being able to just instantly resupply their ammo. alternatively i guess you could just increase the spawn cost of helis with atgms, if we’re just going to give them infinite ammo.

Only Eurocopter is armed with F&F missiles (PARS-LR for UHT and Spike for french ones) from the ones you mentioned.
YAH-64 and Ka-50 have to babysit their missiles until they hit, Ka-50/52 especially (as hellfires theoretically have INS).

AA of the BR these helicopters are at have similar engagement range (ADATS, Tor, Tunguska, or Ito90). In addition, at least some of them have high resolution radars which allow you to not only track, but also shoot down incoming missiles (yes, I did that in practice in clan battles quite a lot).

What’s funnier, changing helicopter spawns to further will not solve the issue, it will make it worse for you, because currently you can expect those lazy heli players to appear right above helipads, there is no need to search of them (just select an airplane prespawn to check where heli spawns are), which makes it a lot easier to shoot them down. On few maps it’s impossible to take off helipad if there is an AA spawned already, because you are gonna be within it’s firing range instantly.

You really should look into researching top tier AA and mastering it if you want to counter helicopters. Actually you don’t even need AA for many of them - 2S38, HSTV-L, Puma with AHEAD rounds will perform as good and not trigger missile warning.

I don’t see how you expect the HSTVL 1.5 second reload to do any meaningful take down at that range. 2s38 I can fill the sky with 6 by the time 2 are fired. It’s seemingly much more for up close helos, not long range AA fire. The gap between them is too far for meaningful fire, 1.5 seconds is a long time after the first time you get hit, to make corrections compared to another .5 seconds, and another and another. By the time 1 round hits with my 2s38, another few hit. That’s not even counting that unless i brought a whole load of them for AA, I’m done right after a few shots to conserve darts for the rest of gameplay, or I brought all proxy rounds and little darts. It’s not even part of the conversation IMO. Just a useful tool if helps come over the field.

I usually take 50/50 load in 2S38, where at most times helicopter pilots hover over the nearer helipad, so it’s easy to pick them out.

It’s not out of question, it’s a good measure against helicopters if you don’t have higher tier AA researched. However yeah, dedicated AA deals significantly better with the threat.
