I can keep going, I could go down all the planes that require GE to unlock camouflages, same as tanks, helis, and boats. “Pretening” that such cosmetics are not locked is just as wrong as pretending that they are.
I’m going to follow up with screenshots later tonight but I’m fairly certain that all my WW2/Coldwar US tanks have like 4 version of olive drab camo, 3 desert patterns, some forest/jungle camo and a snow skin all ulockable by destroying enemy vehicles.
Additionally the number of camouflage variants varies from vehicle to vehicle. I can’t say for sure but I would wager that actuall number of paywalled (GE) camos (excluding marketplace) is at best 25% and 40% at worst. With almost all vehicle having a forest, desert and winter camo to unlock based on vehicles destroyed.
Besides, in a world filled with scummy microtransactions and $100 premium vehicles, paywalled skins are some of the least offensive purchases available.
I’m on Xbox, so that may also be the difference there too. We all know how games specifically cater to PC players, but will constantly put console players on the back burner (hence why Gaijin has content for PC, has sales for Pc, etc., while Xbox and PlayStation hardly ever get deals beyond SOME holidays).
Both Market and GE skins are user generated
Universal camos can be obtained for free and by the time you spade a vehicle you will most likely have both snow and desert camos unlocked
They should add one grindable camo from rando GE ones. You unlock the first two and then still have an option to get it, if you continue to play the same vehicle. At least it would add some variety to the bland looking vehicles. Too many units have a copy/paste skins. Unlocking them over and over again gets old really fast. The extra rando skin would add some spice and give another reason to continue to play the given vehicle. As it is, the grind is too repetitive and boring.
This could even be gamified as well. A random ‘coupon’ for you to start grinding a ‘random’ camo of a vehicle, which would otherwise cost GE, but now allows you to unlock it normally.
The thing is, skin makers rely on the GE purchases of these camos so gaijin can’t really will the amount to existence they would’ve made in GE into existence to pay them
Do it and return when your math gives you " Locking 90% of tank cammos behind a paywall".
And what with that “pretening”? I am a bit confused. I am pretty sure the word is “to pretend” - so I used “pretends” in sentence. Did I made any mistake in that sentence? If so, sorry, maybe it’s some rare EN rule that I am not aware, English is not my native language. Feel free to explain it to me, thanks!
I mean there are close to 1600 skins on the marketplace, how far from the truth could it be if we consider how many camos are copy pasted across tanks?
correction usa,
tropical : unlock
bicolor: unlock
bicolor olive drab: unlock
basic winter: unlock
winter verdant :(unlockable in a few high tier cases)
tricolor (at least 3 of them on most tanks)
desert sand: unlock
can’t say anything for the USSR, and I probably forgot a few camo’s that are on higher tier
