Lockheed Martin F-35A Lightning II

Hello everybody. I’d like to reintroduce and suggest the Lockheed Martin F-35A Lightning II as a future addition to the US Aviation tech tree. The F-35A is an American single-seat, single-engine, stealth multirole combat aircraft designed for air superiority and strike operations. This variant, designated for the United States Air Force, features a Conventional Take-off and Landing (CTOL) configuration and is the smallest and lightest of the F-35 family.

Key Characteristics

  • Stealth Fighter / Multirole Fighter
  • Conventional Takeoff and Landing (CTOL) variant
  • Highly integrated digital avionics, including the AN/APG-85 AESA radar
  • Internal 25mm rotary cannon and weapons bays capable of carrying four AIM-120D AMRAAMs
  • Pratt & Whitney F135-PW-100 afterburning turbofan producing over 40,000 lb of thrust

Conclusion | Why it should be in the game

As a fifth-generation aircraft, the addition of the F-35A is inevitable once most fourth-generation fighters have been incorporated into the game. It would follow the F-22A Raptor as the second fifth-generation fighter and introduce highly advanced digital avionics and cutting-edge stealth technology. The F-35A could serve as a top-tier endgame asset in the US aviation tech tree until the introduction of sixth-generation aircraft.

While the F-35A may not match the kinematic performance of the F-22, it remains highly competitive against fourth-generation fighters such as the F-16C Fighting Falcon, F/A-18C/D Hornet, and F/A-18E/F Super Hornet. Its strengths lie in its stealth capabilities, an internal weapons bay that reduces drag, a significantly larger internal fuel capacity, more than double that of the F-16, excellent handling characteristics, and high-angle-of-attack performance in one-circle engagements. Additionally, introducing the F-35A could help bridge the gap in aviation tech trees for other nations that provide a fifth-generation platform for these.

Just FYI, my suggestion is not intended to be immediately implemented into the game. This is just a place to provide information regarding this particular aircraft that will be added in the future.

+1 After F-16C PoBIT

I guess after F-16C PoBIT gaijin add 3 F-35A

  • F-35A Early (Blk 2B) (15.7 BR)
  • F-35A Late (Blk 3i) (16.0 BR)
  • F-35A Blk 4 (16.7 BR)

not in the near future but surely by 2035 we could see it in game

Hilarious, it will arrive sooner than what you stated. I am willing to wager that the F-35 family will be made into the game before 2027-2028, definitely not later than 2030, that’s for sure.

One notable feature for the F-35 is the SUU-96 pylon and LAU-151/152 launcher rail. These are designed for the low observability requirements, allowing the F-35 to load short-range missiles externally while maintaining extremely low RCS.

There is also the AIM-9X Block II+ with reduced RCS for enhanced survivability.

Though not official, there are some simulation that support this.

Worthy opponent against po2

Not sure how they will implement sams in ground rb to work against this thing but +1 anyway for air rb

Great information. Thanks for sharing the simulation report; it’s a fascinating read.

I’ve updated the F-35’s history and specs to reflect and emphasize that information.

American F-35A and Russian Sukhoi Su-57 met on the same airfield for the first time at Aero India 2025 in Bengaluru, India.

Could this be the genuine competition between the 2 many have been waiting for?

Will be interesting to see them competing for the contract side by side

the only thing su57 does better than f35 is RCS, cause bigger number morer better.

Being fr, the SU-57 carries 10 missiles internally while the F-35 can only carry 4, the maneuverability is better, its radar is allegedly better, and apparently, it’s faster too. Oh yeah, and it costs like 50 million less to produce.

Could’ve sworn it only carried 6 total internal.

And doesn’t F-35 also carry 6 if you count the side bay sidewinders?

And it’s currently being upgraded to hold 6 amraams?

su57 carries 6 internally, 6 externally

F-35A Block 4 can carry six AMRAAMs in its internal bay.

It is eight in total if it’s the F-35A Block 4. These sidewinders are mounted on special external wingtips (SUU-96 pylons and LAU-151/152 launcher rails, as stated above). AIM-9X Block II+ missiles on the outside are stealthy enough without negatively impacting the F-35 in its stealth mode.

Its 6 missiles when they carry the R-37M internally. 4x R-37 with 2x Archer) But with the R-77M, I’m pretty sure its 8x R-77M and 2x Archer meaning 10 internally. So for the purpose of the Su-57, yeah most of the time it’s probably going to be carrying R-37Ms over R-77Ms, so effectively it’s only 6.

The F-35 doesn’t have those…

Yes, that’s true.

Yes, but 2 of those are external Aim-9s that gotta have some effect on it’s stealth.

German F-35A would be radical too since they ordered it. Also where is the suggestion post for Aircraft external signal lights?
