Literally Constant Uptiers?

Dude, stop this 4 BRs and max 4 slots with top BR fable already. I get tons of matches where there are just 2 BRs for the entire teams with 0.3 separation or just 7.0 for ships. Also get plenty of matches where there are just 4 players on the team, but still with a 1.0 BR spread… with me being the lowest, even with a destroyer against all 5.7-6.0 cruisers. How about the first match that I got after the update where the enemy team was shifted up by 0.4 BR? We had 10x 5.3 while the enemy had 10x 5.7. Our highest BR was 5.7 while theirs was 6.0. Of course we lost like there was no tomorrow. Btw, I was in a 5.0 destroyer. I retired my Moffett as 80%+ of matches were senseless 0.7-1.0 uptiers and constant losing streaks. Last few weeks before that I was getting more and more 1.0 uptiers.

I switched to 4.7 BR Frank Knox for the first time to grind my SL boosters. First few matches were ok with just slight uptiers to 5.0. It was fun and doable. Then POOF the suck started again. Constant losing streaks and steamroll losses with 0.7-1.0 uptiers. I even had no wins for 3 days straight with some of the suckiest matches one could get. We are talking about bloodthirsty enemies while my team was all window lickers. I lost so many 300% boosters that I got from Assault with this suck. It did not matter if I changed nations and BRs. The suck followed me. This is not an accident. This is hardcoded into the game. I just checked: I have 30% win rate with my 4.7 Frank Knox with 20 matches. I was getting the same with my Moffett for a very long time now. I’ve been writing about having low 40% monthly win rate for years and years now. Started playing the British ships around New Year and first few days had a constant suck as well where I spaded 3 destroyers (all of them in separate matches) without getting a single win. After a while something happened and I started getting more and more wins with the Brits and just with minimal uptiers most of the time while playing all the ships up to 5.7.

Then I started playing more Japanese and US and the suck started again. That’s when I got the 3 days of no wins. This stupid 30% win rate and constant uptiers simply negate having a premium account. Gee, how quaint…

I got to a point where I ask myself: why even bother playing a match? I’m going to get steamrolled and lose again. My premium time expires in about 85 days. Right now I have no plans to spend any more money. With no premium my grind will halt. What is the point of playing then when knowing you will get uptiered and steamrolled with more pointless losing streaks? Pathetic match maker = pathetic game.

Who said anything about 4 BR’s?? Not me…

And nothing at all in your TLDR (that I did read) says there’s more than 4 with max BR in a team.

1 max BR is less than 4.

Unless you are playing air arcade which has average BR rather than max BR (see spoiler)

Spoiler

Air Arcade Battles follow a similar system for determining the BR range of opponents in a battle. However, the BR of your lineup is calculated as an average of the three highest BR vehicles in the lineup, rather than taking a single BR.

In general:

  • Total BR will only be lowered if there is only one aircraft with the highest BR in the lineup (e.g. one 5.0, with all else 4.7 or lower).
  • Total BR can only be lowered by a maximum of one BR step below the highest BR aircraft (e.g. 5.0 to 4.7, 3.7 to 3.3).
  • Only BR differences within the lineup of up to 2.0 are taken into consideration; otherwise, total BR is taken from the highest BR.

The highest BR vehicle can only occur 4 in the lineups of 4 players per team. In multi-vehicle modes, this can be someone with 6 max BR vehicles or someone with 1 max BR vehicle.

It is also not guaranteed. You can have 4 of max BR, you can have 3 of max BR, 2 of max BR and so forth. However, you will never have a greater than 1.0 BR difference between any 2 matchmaking relevant vehicles outside oif AAB (squaddies bringing lower BRs in, backup vehicles).

It is a CANNOT EXCEED not a MUST HAVE

Perhaps you have to look on the issue as a whole: Where are the players?

Given the amount of cold war premium sales, it seems a safe assumption that a large group of players sits in the upper tiers. So when you rise through the ranks to top tier, you will likely have the majority of players above you. Which means that your chance to be the low tier is high.
So why do you often observe 7.7s when playing 6.7, but rarely get to be top tier when playing 7.7? Because you don’t observe the same 7.7 people in 6.7. You observe the lucky ones, enjoying their rare top tier match. Same as you get every once in a while when playing 7.7.
Once you reach top BR, you will find no one above you. Game after game after game you are the highest BR. BUT… you are not matchmakers “top tier”. Top tier is empty. Hence you meet many people with your BR. The MM can run games with virtual BRs above the real top BR in the tree.
