Indeed, just like with the 3 German Tanks being reintroduced.
The rear armor + engine + firewall of the 279 can be penetrated by any HEAT/ATGM with more than 400mm of penetration, so I dunno what you are talking about
This might shock you to know, but the testing criteria used by the russians for determining a penetration/perforation/partial-pen/non-pen are not the same ones used by say america or germany, and identical munitions tested by, for example britain and russia, will result in different numbers at identical ranges and angles. The demarre formula is used to equalize penetration values for the game.
Conqueror and panthers all have flat sides. Good luck flanking something that don’t even have flanks.
Can you please link to the post where you address the armour, reload and acceleration? This thread is now over 300 long
Conqueror armor is still broken to only have like 70mm of armor on the front anyways.
On each side of the turret, there is a sizable spot under the turret where it is not very angled. m48 stock apcr can pen that area from 1km out.
Yeah sure but again, how is it fair that I have to do a pixel shot just to take out the breach while it can just one shot me anywhere ?
The spots I mentioned are decent in size and you should not have that big of an issue hitting them unless you are sniping from far out. That is also if you are using low pen rounds such as the m48 apcr that I mentioned. What would be a tank that it can face that would have a very hard time penning it? Most tanks it faces have apfsds or heat.
Do you have the object 279? We can do some testing.
90mm HEATFS:
The 7.7s that struggle against 8.7 heavy:
AMX-50 120, Maus, and Centurion Mk5+ deriv.
Pretty much the same story with many 6.7 heavy tanks against Maus & IS-4M.
Mediums do better against them.
I decided to start playing the object 279 again to see how it is currently doing. So far, it appears that the issue is people’s lack of experience fighting it and, as a result, panic firing. I even had a marder flank me only to aim way to low and only hit the fuel tanks. In fact, a good few of the shots from tanks at/near my flank were hitting way to low and only hitting my tracks. Of those that hit the actual hull/turret of my tank, about 8/10 penned. Funny enough, some classic Gaijin rng happened and I ended up getting my driver taken out by a Wiesel 1A4.
4 steps of matchmaker means more fine-tuning for similar but different vehicles.
Don’t agree with the logic.
& decompressing the total range is the ultimate form of decompression.
yes ultimately I’d prefer raising max br and stretching vehicles out.
Just add more vehicles to the game. Balance is for the weak. Gameplay is for the Strong.

The only thing I have gathered from the rants in this post is that people do not take the time to research the weaknesses of the tanks they fight and when they panic shoot that very vehicles and bounce or non-pen they come to this forum and cry about it. The object 279 is not as op as people seem to think and against skilled players who know how to fight it instead of just shooting randomly kill it on 1 shot because of how large the ammo inside the tank is. When the object fights anything with a decent heat round/APFSDS or atgms it is almost instantly taken out of the fight or killed by any skilled player. I have also been bombed more times than I could ever recall in the tank. I may get 0-3 kills on average and in some games I stomp but in fairness, you could do the same with many tanks with the same play style I have. It mainly faces Germany with dm23 which can easily pierce the front plate and so can many heatfs shells. If people spent as much time researching the vehicles they fight as they do crying about them they may come to realize it’s not as bad as they make it sound. I will also add these are my stats on my 2 main 8.7 Russia tanks.
Yes I have it and it’s interesting to do dome testing but it comes back to what I said earlier: If you take a 7.7 heavy or medium I will crush you, but if you take a 9.7, you’ll crush me.
The 278 is in the same situation as the Maus, being useless in uptier while being OP in downtier.
It isn’t useless though. That is like saying that the PT-76 is useless because a lot of things can 1 shot it. Or the IKV 91 is useless because it cannot brawl. That is the problem. Just because the 279 can get 1 shot doesn’t mean it doesn’t need an uptier. And if it suffers when given a full uptier, then welcome to the club. So many other nations get to suffer on full 1 BR uptiers, their is no reason why this tank should be an exception.
If a heavy tank from 1959 cannot rely on its armor, and its mobility is negated/countered by go-karts from the 80s/90s/2000s/2010s with APFSDS, Gen 1/2 Thermals, and laser range finders, that makes one of its 2 main strengths useless at its BR, let alone an up tier then it becomes useless. Especially when your 130mm APHE punches straight through one of said go-karts without exploding or producing any spall because the armor is too thin.
They have the USH-405 sitting at BR 8.0 vs all these things. It is a 1950s vehicle and doesn’t even get a stabilizer. Yet they had no problem bumping it up against thermals, lrfs, and stabilizers etc. If its fair for one nation, its fair for another.
You’re comparing light tanks and a super-heavy, that’s nonsense. A heavy must rely on its armour since it has nothing else.
In this case, the 279 also has average mobility and a stab but that’s about it.
