Happy Birthday, War Thunder! The War Thunder open beta test began on November 1st 2012. Just think, that was 13 years ago! We’ve come a long way together since then, and we’re happy to invite all of you to celebrate the game’s birthday with us!

Following the in-game and store discounts, we’re pleased to be introducing the unique XF5U-1 in the Dreams Come True event, another chance to get the legendary Maus tank, and a celebratory decal to commemorate War Thunder’s 13th anniversary. Check it all out!

Dreams Come True: XF5U-1

The XF5U-1 is essentially one large wing, allowing you to perform sharp turns and frankly incredible stall maneuvers. This master of dogfighting is armed with six .50 cals and really does look like a classic UFO, and pancake too of course!

Nice to see the Maus back, but a lot of players would like to see the Tiger II 105, Panther II and Coelian brought back too. Behold the top comment on last year’s anniversary post…

I’d love to know what you all think. Should they be:

  • Returned to the tech tree, simple
  • Returned via a recurring event, similar to the Maus
  • Stay gone, never to return
  • Other method of reintroduction, specify in reply

Answered numerous times - there are no plans for their return.

I’m aware, but there’s always the possibility that the people who make these decisions will change their mind - especially if it’s something the players clearly want.

The devs have changed their stances on things before, e.g. self-propelled artillery and modern vehicles. And that’s a good thing! There’s nothing wrong with changing your mind to make your customers happy.

Clearly no, don’t bring them back. Maybe a correct Panther II version for an event vehicle, but nothing else.

Many players want also not to suffer from the ODL gamers and that’s also not easy to handle…

Is the hangar man back?

That comes with any event vehicle, sadly. And with Germany being one of the most popular nations, I imagine it would suffer less relative to, say, Italy after the FIROS event.

And hey, if all three were to come back at once - there’s a nicely rounded lineup to combat one-death leaving.

I would love to see them added to sl crates, as a extremely rare award that is.

these tanks where place holders and fake when ground was beta !

i think flakpanzer 341 should be back and panther II 75mm added but panther 88mm and 105m king tiger are fake i see no reason to bring them this will cause more players to ask for fake tanks and find it as excuse to add fake stuff which will turn war thunder to world of tanks.

players who own it already are little and numbers will get lower.

Edit: panther II we have in game replace the turret with 75mm turret and bring back that’s what i mean !

They are now at BR 7.0, the badest BR bracket for Germany, I’ll take 6.7 instead. And these 3 vehicles have nothing to do with ODL at this BR range at Germany.

No SL Crates?

Decal looks great, well done :)
(no haters here please)

The rules would have to change to allow paper vehicles back.
And before someone says something:
A vehicle that begins production [M10 Booker, Gneisenau, etc] are objectively not paper vehicles.

SL crates won’t happen again until December. Here is a list of all past crate events:

I get what you’re saying, but in my opinion it’s better than having that divide between those who have them and those who don’t.

Gaijin can always put a disclaimer saying that they’re exceptions to the rule in their event devblogs - and really lean into the ‘classic WT nostalgia’ side of things when marketing them. Make it clear that they’re symbols of the game’s identity from back in the day rather than a standard for things to come.

(Myself, I’d love to see paper vehicles anyway. 183 mm FV215B, please. But that’s an ask for another time.)
