Leopards w/ spall liners are way too op

Bro what? We’ve literally seen videos of them recently, the last one was from dec 19th (usually we get a video every month or so and that increase when a operation is underway). They are still very much being used with the majority still functional. There are only few that have truly been completely destroyed / scrapped for parts and not worth repairing.

XD but thats not true at all last time i checked 17 tanks got disabled(was it 80 tanks delivered in total) from wich 5 where a complet write off the others are back in action the biggest prooblem is getting parts to the frontlines

to much RT news ? XD

Ssshhh, let him believe T80’s are the best tank in the world while Russians are using them for Space missions xD.

8 Tanks are as far as we know not recovered as we have no video of them, but those go as far back as summer. Counting only recent ones its only 4 with the rest being recovered or not having enough information.

I think you’re overestimating the number of tank-on-tank engagements taking place.
There’s been roughly 4000 MBT’s lost on both sides, yet the number of confirmed tank-on-tank engagements can counted on two hands.

I don’t think anyone will claim the Leopard 2 is invincible, rather that it is more survivable than a T-72B3 due to the nature at which ammunition is stored.

If Ukraine does eventually adopt the Leopard 2 as it’s main MBT, then that’s because of supply reasons. The Leopard 2 is the most practical solution and Ukraine doesn’t have the ability to mass produce Soviet-era designs in the numbers required.

there is other reasons /plans as well, ukraine /rheinmetall wanted to build a factory that eventualy would build the KF51 as well. You could argue the KF51 being a part of the Leopard Faimily. But there is good chances they would eventualy adopt those as their mbt

Photos don’t show how long a vehicle was burning for before it went up.

The insensitive munitions are there for the crew to be able to get out without being turned into atoms in nanoseconds when the tank is penetrated.

There’s a reason Russian tanks are a meme when it comes to turret tossing but I guess letting your tank crew die when their tank detonates is cheaper than investing in safer ammunition.

These all break down into practicality reasons though.
Ukrainian units fielding T-64’s are performing just fine, and in some cases perform better than units equipped with Leopard 2A6’s.

This just reinforces the fact that the quality of the crews matters more than the hardware, and that Ukrainian crews are more comfortable with Soviet-era equipment for now.

The meme is largely pushed by people who don’t really understand the subject though.
If a tank is penetrated and ammunition is detonated, why does it matter whether the turret is tossed? The end result is a catastrophic loss of the vehicle and it’s crew.

This also isn’t any different from any other MBT I know of aside from the M1 Abrams, which is the only tank that features fully isolated ammunition storage.

The T-90M fixes this issue by having the ammunition normally stored outside of the carousel moved into a bustle rack. However, the T-90M’s CITV + CROWS together already comprise 20% of the vehicle’s total cost apparently.
There’s an argument to be made that the conflict we see raging on currently doesn’t really allow for qualitative advantage to make an impact, thus making the excessive cost questionable.

Similarly, a singular T-80UK in the cold war was equal to 14 T-62’s in terms of cost. If you ask any country wanting to equip it’s forces with an MBT, you’ll have a hard time selling them on the idea of purchasing a singular tank over 14, yet the Soviet Union still spent the money on those ultra-expensive and high end vehicles anyways (in limited numbers).

At the end of the day, these vehicles are largely just mobile HE-F delivery systems in this conflict, and even a T-62 can do that job just fine.

on the whole russian ammo not combusting well
T-72B3 Runs Over Mine Line And Gets Destroyed By APFSDS Round (youtube.com)
sure maybe not by apfsds like the video claims but its definitly cooking

for people claiming there are over 150 leopards in ukraine, most of them are 1a5 and 2a4, only a minimal part are leopard2, yet 6 of them got destroyed
If they get more leopard2 to ukraine more will be destroyed too at a similar rate
Now during the special military operation UA army got litterally flooded by western AT weapons made specifically to target russian veichles thats why they lost that many tonks during the first part of the operation, not to mention artillery and drones.
This is a game about tanks and planes/helicopters as support maybe, so is not ok to have leopards extremely survivable and everything else that can be oneshotted by them

compare the production prieces of mass produced cheap russian stuff, to western ones.
Western ones are build to be better quality over quantity, the only reason they are even doing as well as they do in the game is because the Era is overperforming. Anti Era rounds dont have their era defeating effects. And that russian tanks benefit the most of gajins volumetric mechanic

may i remind you that Leopard2 in the game are underperforming compare to real life? it lack a lot of stuff such as anti ERA tip from it ammunition like DM53 and spall liner irl don’t disappear by just one shot let just say Gaijin are at mercy to holding any western tank back by a lot yep what you see stomping Russian team who have overperform tank right now are “unfinish underperforming tank”

Since I’m back from uni, I’ll throw in my two cents.

All Leopard 2A6s in Ukraine carry a full LOVA load, i.e DM53A1 & DM11, both of which have SCBD. Their chances of survivial (or on this case, not giving the crew a free ticket to the stars) are much higher thanks to this combination.

You cannot achieve a similar effect by mixing non-LOVA and LOVA rounds together, this is why Turkish tanks were destroyed the way they were (they mixed DM63 [LOVA] and DM12A1 [not-LOVA]).

Iirc the second one was from some driving accident in poland lol.

You can even see the 2PL in the background.

Pretty sure after the war ukr probably select 2A7 as their main battle tanks right now they seem to use older models such as A4 A5 and A6

Wouldnt bet on it, either way the KF 51 is the estranged brother of the leopards. On another note if anything ukraine might jump into the 2a8 order

PR

Once I seen the what spall liners could do it n the test server I knew they should have never been added it just makes top tier more annoying and fuck up the flow of play(side spall liners discourage flanking)

It also looks like by some miracle gave gaijin significantly reduced the non exploding ammo chance of the t80s as they pretty consistently explode now and aren’t as RNG as before

Why not? I want Leopard2 for home protection as well
