I hang out with a lot more than Russian mains, they all say that SPAMRAAMs are no skill and annoying to die to.
Yeah, except I’ve been killed by AIM 120s with no warning. I swear people hurl them around like IR missiles. Because I won’t get a single track warning, no funny beeping, not even a massive MSL on the radar screen or in front of me. I just spontaneously combust.
I blame Americans more than Russians. God forbid anything is better than “muh 104-0” plane.
It’s not exactly a lie. Spamming missiles doesn’t mean you’re good at the game. I’d rather die to gun fire because at least that requires more skill than point and click an unflareable missile.
It’s defo not that slow. I thought max was somewhere in the 6 second range since I know it’s faster than the Russian autoloaders aced, but I didn’t think it was 5 seconds.
It is a lie. They are only annoying to die to if you’re not paying attention and let yourself die to something entirely preventable, or if you get the RWR bug that I believe has been fixed but I could be wrong. Even still the RWR bug is not common and would apply to all ARH missiles.
Spamming missiles also usually doesn’t secure kills. Spamming missiles also doesn’t mean you won’t die 20 seconds afterwards to the first thing coming your way. Top tier takes skill in staying alive and having an impact.
That bug hasn’t been fixed, it still happens to me. I’m on Xbox, so Gaijin will never fix it anyways. Gotta cater to PC players, you know.
Also no, it doesn’t require skill. All you gotta do is just don’t be there. Turn off your search radar and people won’t see you in the RWR. Flank around them, lock the funny green box, wait until the two rings appear, and fire, and you’re practically guaranteed an elimination. F-15s get it easier, since they can go 8 miles high, going above Mach 2 and will evade any and all missiles by using a single chaff.
Top tier is quite literally the most brain-dead tier. Claiming it requires skill is actually laughable.
It objectively has the most mechanics you have to know to do well consistently (notching+multipathing+managing radar+knowing how to manage many threats at once+etc) as well as those mechanics being the most difficult mechanics overall to learn relative to 99% of mechanics. It’s much harder to learn how to notch consistently than it is most other mechanics in the game.
The only people who complain about top tier not taking skill that I have ever seen have not had good stats in top tier. You can’t consistently do well and be bad.
