It’s true that I’ve already researched most of the ten tech trees. But first of all, Germany was the first nation I ever played in this game — I have some emotional attachment to it, and I don’t want to see it treated this unfairly. Beyond that, I’m not just speaking for myself — I’m speaking for the players still stuck in the misery of grinding.
At this point, the game’s research system really is unreasonable. The tech trees keep getting longer and the cost of grinding keeps going up. It genuinely needs some improvements, otherwise players will only complain more and more and keep crying that their own nation isn’t strong enough. The community’s mood can’t be blamed entirely on the players, my friend — the developers should bear part of the responsibility. Players should stick together and figure out where the blame actually belongs.
Sure, the game did launch in 2012 — but not everyone was born in 2012. So I’m not going to change my view that the game’s current research system is unreasonable. We should give players who’ve only just started a chance — a chance to experience high-tier vehicles from other nations, so that after trying them firsthand they can form a clear understanding of different vehicles, instead of blindly crying about things they’ve never actually played.
But honestly, my premium account has never once lapsed. On the US, German and Soviet trees, I’ve bought more than one premium vehicle for both ground and air, and I’ve finished all three of those trees. On top of that, I bought a premium for French air and have pretty much finished that too. I only bought the Chinese air premium recently, but I’m already at the edge of top tier — and the Chinese ground premium has landed too, so once I finish Chinese air I’ll move on to ground. I’ve got a premium for Japanese ground as well, but I have no motivation to grind the Japanese tree. Same story with the Italian premium — no interest for now.
If I wanted to grind a new tree, I’d have plenty of options right now. But I don’t want to. Grinding is just too painful, man. When I was younger I could still put in the hours, but as I get older I barely have the energy for that kind of high-intensity grind anymore. What interests me now is finding new ways to play within the trees I’ve already researched.
For example, I’ve gotten bored of IR-guided weapons — lately I’ve gotten hooked on using GPS glide bombs to bomb the enemy spawn point.
Its literally diabolical how you put the 2a8 to Sweden that already has best leopards, and then you have France that has that useless leopard subtree. Good grief.
I do not believe that the breech structure of the L2A8 has been redesigned, nor do I think that the Germans would have undergone a redesign. If the depression angle of the L2A8 is only 7.4 degrees, then the L2s using 120-l55 caliber guns like the L2A7 would also need to have their depression angle reduced to 7.4 degrees. However, according to the information I have found, the breech structure of the L44 is no different from that of the L55, so the depression angle of the L2 on the L44 would also need to be adjusted to 7.4 degrees.
Its the programmed safe zone of the FCS/Stabilizer to prevent the gun or parts of the tank getting damaged. Similar to the whole rear hemisphere of the tank, which also has strict restrictions for gun depression. Irl you have to switch off the stabilizer to use these angles.
Unfortnately its not modeled ingame, nor do any other ingame tanks have deadzones to prevent barrel/tank damage. Dunno why its just the Leopard.
They switched off the FCS, then you can use these angles. The gunner has 3 operation modes, one is more or less manual gun aiming, where he might traverse the gun where he wants it to be. Its also possible for the rear hemisphere. You can lower the gun right to the engine deck. But thats not how Gajin programs it. They just use the settings with all restrictions on. Cause they always love to nerf German tanks. As soon as a source appears, its ingame the next day.
Yes, they might do it. It was the same with the rear hemisphere. The first years after Leopard 2A4 was ingame, you could use the whole rear part of the tank to traverse and to shot. You could use the full physical space to aim the gun.
Then out of the sudden Gajin applied the programmed safe zones. They even toughened them twice. Now your depression is restricted over almost the whole 180 deg of the rear hemisphere. Which often gets you killed on small maps.
I remember on the old forum everything was tried to convince Gajin its just an safety thing and ofc there are ways to aim at enemies in your rear, if there’s an emergency. But Gajin really has an issue with Germany, they’re totally fine with it. To this day, its not possible to shot at enemy vehicles apprearing behind and next to you (cause the deadzone ist truly huge ingame).
Gun depression nerfed to 7.4 from 9
Weight increased by nearly 3 tons which no change in armor (apparently an APS system wieghs that much).
No LWS (not even the planned domestic one which they are planning to add)
Literally the only thing better in the 2A8 is the APS
and since we have the Kh 38 in some nations which don’t even plan to buy them why can’t we apply the same logic to a nation which has planned to get them?
