It is most armored and most survivable MBT with best dart and good mobility. If it aint OP then YaK-130 is worst attacker at 9.3
- The Strv122 and all the russian MBT’s are more armored
- The M1’s with M829A3 have the best dart by a country mile
- Its one of the only western tanks with 6s reload (aced) which means that unless you ace your tank, you’re reload is about the same or worse than all other top tier MBT’s (iirc expert reload is like 7s, so tied with the slowest russian ones)
- Its the only MBT that has extra spall production for mantlet shots (iirc) making it MUCH less survivable to the most common shot area at top tier
- Top speed and acceleration are both crap, because gaijin refuses to give it the extra acceleration it was designed to have at the sacrifice of its top speed
Its 14th in KDR and 9th in KPS for June 2026 (latest month we have statshark data for). The 2A7HU that fixes some of those problems (namely the mantlet spall iirc) does better than it. All the top tier M1’s with access to M829A3 do better than it, the top tier STRV122’s do better than it.
Its a good tank, it aint the best.
Funny enough actually, its one of your ONLY top tier tanks that has a negative KDR…
Must just be a coincidence tho…
The 122s are better armoured and more survivable. And it’s over 20 years older
Not really I mean the anti era capability is nice but it’s not the best since k5 is quite rare unless your in a full downtier what will prob change soon and pure pen the best darts are 292s and dm53
saying its underperforming dosent mean that its bad, idk where did you see it was called bad, on the contrary its pretty good, just underperforming because it destroys most of its competitors in majority of metrics
also i dont really like to be calling stats but, you say that the 2A7V its OP while having bad comparative rating
Saying its the most Survivable and the most armored is probably the most factually wrong things around.
- Strvs and T-Series Tanks (w Relikt) have waaaay more Armor than the 2A7s and funnily enough you can penetrate the Hull Armor with the Add-On Armor with DM53 as it only provides 640mm (Maximum Value) of Armor (No I am not joking), I even experienced being penetrated with M829A3 at the very tip of the wedge on the Hull.
- The Round Itself is pretty decent but what advantages does DM53 with the L55 give you if other Tanks with comparable Pen can do similar things while reloading 1 Whole Second faster than you
- Mobility is alright however it is with Speed on par with the Challenger 2s (Unless for the Challenger 2E with the Improved Engine) and the T72s/T90s.
In Conclusion:
Its no where near in the Status of OP when everyone (Unless for the T72s) can outreload your Tank in either a Second or you need to have an Aced Crew to actually Have a Chance to get on par with a T80 with 3BM42-2. However this Does Not mean that the Leopard 2A7s are bad Tanks, its just that (similarly to the Abrams) it has Multiple Flaws that make it underperform.
I may have been not clear enough. 2a7 is the tank that combines best characteristics of all tanks: STRV122 is surely better armored and a tiny bit more survivable but it doesnt have long-barrel Rheinmetal. T-90 may have better protection but it is just garbage all-round except it. And it certainly not as fast as T-80 but much faster than Ariette or Challenger when it is not stock.
2a7v has much better survivability and protection than most other MBTs (basically anyone except Strv122) while having best (well now second to best) round. It lacks reload speed to make it AT LEAST somewhat balanced. There arent much other characteristics to discuss further on top tier.
it certainly NOT underperforms in any way compared to any other machine ingame. Sayingotherwise is like asking to have a “WIN” button because playing is too hard idk.
Literally irrelevant. 20mm is nothing
it IS something when its shooting strvs or leopard 2a7s. I suffer muh with Strv122s on short-barrel leopards.
If your suffering with 623mm of pen that says alot about you.
I dont call myself a pro player tho. Im just saying that penning Leopard`s 2a7 nose or NOT penning that nose is what that 20mm does. Its MUH MUH more OP than any cannon i own, where there is just literally NO WAY to pen the UFP of Leopard 2a7 and STRV122 with either British L27, Soviet 3BM60, french OFL120 ect ect ect.
There are only two tanks that can do that at top tier and they are 2a7 and new Abrams with 829A3.
Leopard 2s are muh dependent on good crew and not stock condition (how do you call that in english?) tho, thats a fact. Much more dependent than Abramses or Challengers
Yes, honestly, after the new update, besides giving the Abrahams the 829A3 and the Strvs the DM53, they need to address the Leopards. German mains seem to be left out; the 2A8 should come with new, enhanced armor and ammo capacity, or the 2A7 should be equipped with D-Tech armor and new sabot rounds. It’s upsetting to see other countries getting new vehicle armor or sabot rounds with every update while German vehicles only get copy-pasted versions like the Puma.
Pretty much all NATO tanks, Gaijin downgrade NERA arrays otherwise Russian tanks would struggle to penetrate them.
NERA has been butchered to retain game “balance”
Sorry to interrupt, I had a quite good time with 2A7 but 2A6 and 2A5s are pretty bad in my opinion. Chonky, kinda slow, slow reload and poor armor - not the worst survivability but trading shots end up in repair most of the times.
Are they correctly modelled or not? Little bit offtopic but lineups matters to me and since 2A7 is only Leo I liked in German top tier I stopped playing it recently.
Ps. There are obviously worse MBTs too.
What are you even Talking about? Any of these Rounds can pen the UFP as long you dont go for the Nose. Additionally If you pen the Leopard but not kill it you are 100% going to kill its Horizontal and most of the time (what I have experienced) the Engine too. As said We have never said the Leopard 2A7 is Bad as in its one of the Worst Vehicles in the game. It is a servicable MBT But Its part of a MBT Family that has not received a change in Years while other MBTs have received Major Buffs to them. I have Thousands of Matches played on the Leopard 2s and let me tell you not having an Aced crew while fighting against Tanks that can out reload you on a whim and this “Survivability” you are talking about it 90% of the time irrelevant if they either nuke your entire crew with 1 shot or make your Tank into a Repair Simulator which essentially means you are dead. In fact I had more trouble killing a T Series tank even when penetrating it because either the Fuel Tanks or the Autoloader soak up the damage and you get instantly killed/Heavily Crippled.
Btw the Analysis:
1: L27A1 (Challenger 2)
2: OFL 120 F1 (Leclerc)
3: 3BM60 (T90M)
PS: You have a good point though with the Crew Part which I do agree with, having a Non Expert Crew or not even a Expert Crew has you in a few disadvantages and makes you more dependent.
I don`t own experts to it and it is still quite stock… Tho its just me being too cocky with it as first spawn pick. You can also see i dont have same trouble with 2a6, and i dont believe you want to argue that 2a6 is better than 2a7 in any way.
Calling the best tank in the game an underperformer makes absolutely no sense. I will never understand why the hyper-focus is always on heavy armor. Anything more than a stable turret is just dead weight. Mobility, gun handling, and fire control systems are significantly more important in actual gameplay. The 2A7 is on a completely different level of performance. Anyone who has actually played the Type 10 or the Leclerc knows they are awesome tanks, but the 2A7 easily outperforms them. If you want to talk about a real top-tier underperformer, look at the T-90M—that is where the actual performance issues are.Even if we look at real-life performance, we have much bigger problem children to worry about.
Yes, and the nose is a problem. Shooting higher in games is always a risk of a ricochet - you rarely fight plain grounds. And some lower shots get tricky. I can believe that its just me having not enough fast thinking, but im a little too old to argue about that. Not even taking in question shooting a moving or faraway target when there is always a chance to hit that part.
Well it depends on angles of hits. And if its not horizontals, you`re just dead, as usual with top tier.
That means either that they are perfectly balanced or they are overperforming. And it being german and not receiving buffs means even more (yes i look at you PzIV series).
Honestly about the PzIV changes I dont really know why exactly because they were fine Imo, but still at least from my Experience (with like 613 Battles on the 2A7V) I rarely have had shots bounced on the very top of the UFP (unless they were an Extreme angle). But about the Nose its not exactly that big of a Hinderence if you have played against Russian Tanks (Looking at you T90Ms) have a bigger non Pen Zone than the Leos (which both the T90 or a BVM have with the Relikt and the LFP is often not seen and the Driver´s Hatch is a gamble and the Breach Area aswell is a Gamble with that Trunnion) but I still believe the Leopards need some change at least in the Current Meta.
PS: Yes i get that this arguing is getting a bit tedious with the back and forth And I do respect your Side of this discussion because on one hand yes the 2A7 is a really capable MBT that can do things if you have the Skill and the Crew for it but on the other you cant exactly rely on a small spot on the hull front that isnt even properly modelled (its missing the entire lower part of the armor can be easily penetrated by even 3BM42). I will head off now and have a nice one Milashny😃
Can you elaborate or provide something?
Not allowed to anymore, let’s just put it that way.
FMV still hasnt responded to my request regarding this matter.
Anyway (partially because gaijin forgot to remove the presentation from older posts that are still up [regarding 2a7v hull armour]) 2A7V currently performs worse than Strv 122’s, despite being known to feature a newer/more advanced composite package. (Strv 122’s are also underperforming in comparison to the data in the presentation to begin with)
This is primarily due to our favorite indie dev forgetting to apply the Strv 122’s additional KE modifier to the 100mm NERA screens (that are essentially identical) on 2A7V, thus resulting in lower performance.
But then again, same company that somehow made the peak KE RHAE on Leopard 2RI higher than on 2A7V despite 2RI featuring worse composites (B-Tech)…
So not like anything should be surprising anymore.
