I’ve recently started playing 10.7 (GB/SWE) as my normal go to lineup and I’m genuinely dumbfounded by trying to fight soviet MBTs in the Leo 2A4. I normally stick to STRF 9040C / CV9030 Mk.4 as my go tos (normally finish in top 5 on scoreboard) but I try and play with Leo 2a4 just to get better with an MBT myself (bottom of scoreboard). I don’t understand how it’s at all balanced that I need to play surgeon to pick apart a Russian MBT, not even accounting for random pixel traps or 0 damage to breech shots. With equally competent teams if Russia takes over the initial points and simply holds them rather than pushing like morons there’s no way to unstick them from there without CAS. I’ve played RUS 10.7 with several of the premiums there and it’s always a cake walk from the other end.
Rant aside, everyone always hypes up Leo 2A4s as amazing and Im lost as to what is even decent about this tank. I demolish it when I fight them and I get molested when I play in it. Please lmk.
But in a head to head where both get the shot off, the T-80UD likely survives and autoreloads, and the 2A4 eats a frontplate shot and is either dead or with a 50 second repair.
So back at the original post mentioning holding objectives. If you have to push a hull down T series or you lose the match, how does a leo win that fight. Objectives are inherently close quarters on most maps. A T-80 swinging you close quarters has a very good chance of winning if you’re the defender since you’re busy aiming for his driver hatch or lfp. Winning games requires playing up close and personal.
Eh, IMO theyre bad at corner camping but they have armor and forward mobility to aggresively push - as long as you dont push into five enemies at once that is.
Leos ain’t bad but russian mbt is just easy to play, the reason the t-80 seems good is because little timmy can easily get a couple of kills by driving straight and firing you cant really do that with a leopard 2
They are not terrible at it, but aggressively pushing in the T-80UD also just requires on the enemy not being too good at the game. Personally I hate relying on luck/chance, which is why I prefer pretty much every other tank at that BR.
Of course against sweatlord supreme 9000 id rather be in more mobile, agile tank, but seeing what the average WT player is, T-80UD is relaxing experience.
NATO MBTs like the Leopard 2A4 are played differentely than Russian ones. Russian MBTs have strong armor and may seen OP due to that. But the weak spots are always the same and not too hard to hit, when you know the game a bit.
Apart from that, they don’t have the best top speed, no reverse but awful gun depression.
2A4 mogs the hell out of Russians in those categories. Yes, front armor easily penetrated.
Its not a frontline MBT, you have to flank and use the mobility.
