Welcome to my 4th Suggestion here, this time I would like to share an Idea with you guys.
(Example Flarakrad)
Do you know the moment when your Ground Vehicle has diffrent (Groups) of Smoke Launcher, and an Enemy Apears behind you, you want to smoke to get in cover but you have to fire first the forward Smokes and lose some seconds because of this.

Well, how about we use an machanic which is allready in game, but in Naval.
In Naval the Game selects which Torpedos meets the POV you are looking at the best,
You look on your left side = Game selects left torps
You look on your Right side = Game selects Right torps

How about we use this on Tanks (Example FlarakRad)
You look on forward = Game selects Forward looking smokes
You look behind you = Game selects rear looking smokes
This way the Rear looking smokes could actually be usefull since you could use then first and dont have to use the forwards smokes first

I like this idea a lot as it means you can smoke one flank and still have a line of fire.
Id quite like to also see the bomb throwers (like what we see on a lot of ww2 British tanks) be able to turn like they actually could so that they can fire in the direction you are pointing so you don’t need to wait on your turret to turn

I think this would be way too complex,
Butt, maybe working in some other way, instead of choosing which row of smoke launchers to shoot the grenade, shoot respectively the first front row and then the rear row and so on, maybe this won’t require much of the player to set during or before a encounter with a enemy.
Or maybe, as @Caernarvon02 mentioned, shooting the closest smoke launcher where the player is aiming would be even better and user-friendly, requiring even lower effort for the player to leave the spot.

in the case of dischargers on most tanks have the closest (with smoke bombs still) to where you’re pointing fire would be great if a vehicles controls would allow it. depends on how they are internally wired to fire though.
This could be applied to few vehicles like the Tiger I H that had all-around smoke launcher on the chassis but it haven’t been implemented in-game.
would be nice for those things to have some utility so their annoyances are for a reason.
id mostly like the bomb throwers on things like tortoise and black prince to start working as they actually did and be able to toss a smoke bomb in any direction, they don’t need their long range settings as a smoke bomb going 100m isn’t useful in game but something would be good

These mortars would actually be pretty useful, knowing most of the mobility of early british Cold War vehicles, I wouldn’t need to face the enemy then turn and go to retreat.
these bomb throwers only appear in this style on late ww2 designs, they were in fixed positions earlier and we changed to multi barrel dischargers from centurion onwards so it would only be a thing on tortoise, black prince and literally nothing else. but as mobility is not their strongpoint it would be a life saver

Late war German tanks had the Nahverteidigungswaffe which had 360 degree rotation.
But few tanks had rearward firing. Even early German panzers who had rear smoke grenade uh… droppers, were for covering a withdrawal and/or accompanying infantry.
Practically, its just as easy to fire forward and then drive into your smoke than to traverse around and fire it in the “right” direction. If you are immobilized under fire, you are most likely going to just get shot thru the smoke by the enemy that knows your position.
I can think of a lot of things Gaijin should fix in the game before adding this obscure (get it?) mechanic.

Actually would also be handy for the Tigers with the S-Mine modeled if you woukd be able to fire smokes with them
good idea, but with a dedicated input making you switch from front to rear instead of being slaved to the camera (sometime you need to smoke in the front, but watch behind you to not get stuck at the same time).
I would really like that on a lot of WW2 German tanks to be able to rotate their “Nahverteidigungswaffe” like they could in real life. (Nahverteidigungswaffe = their smoke launcher)
They would add a really nice feature, that if your turret is taken out, you are still able to smoke in the direction of the enemies, or on tank destroyers, able to smoke to the sides, instead of only to the front.
From what i have looked, the following list is vehicles ingame with Nahverteidigungswaffe.
