Latin American Ground Forces Tree

Massive +1
I’ve been closely following the development of this tree and the community has gone beyond expectations. They had many chances to create shortcuts when filling out the tree but they decided to instead dedicate their time to find vehicles which would be unique both in aspect and playstyle. Anyone complaining about a few ‘copy paste’ vehicles has not even bothered to look at the post. I remember that when Italy, France and then China and Israel were just about to be added into the game people complained about how those trees would be full of copy paste and that nobody would want to play them, yet we have them in game and Gaijin still has a ton of unique content to add to those trees. Ultimately the LATAM community is very big and should be represented in game with their own dedicated tree. Yes having so many nations in 1 is a bit strange at first but if you look at Sweden they are de-facto the Nordic TT so its really not an issue imo.

Looks nice, but the T-72 premium? one of the only few mbt? it should be in the tech, not as premium

You shouldn’t be thanking me, I should be thanking you instead! Thanks for being part of the team, it has been a pleasure working alongside you.

Indeed, friends! This thread is booming with positive feedback! As of writing, we have 1576 voters, and 95% of them are positive! Thanks for everyone’s support so far, and keep it coming!

Yes! I was just making sure with a Suggestion Moderator that I could post the link here. Here it is guys: WT LATAM Project

I’ve adressed this already in an early comment. Sorry guys, but this is a Latin American tree, not a Latino-Iberian tree. Spain and Portugal won’t be included in it. The only real addition it would’ve provided to our top tier would be a Leopard 2E, as the Leopard 2A6 is copy-paste.

hello!

I’m sure Ivan @COLDOWN will agree that the Krupp cannon’s penetration is a little higher. Around 78-82mm at 10 meters and 0° (an estimate, following the Krupp and DeMarre formula).

Both the Brazilian army and marines are in the process of acquiring new MBTs, the navy showed interest in the M1 Abrams via FMS but also opened a line of conversations for the CV90, the army is still very open, friends of mine in the military say that They are between some variation of the Leopard, CV90-120 and the Ariete.

Nice!, one addition more in name of Colombia would be the “Cóndor SLT 70” that uses the dynacomp-indumil 70-12-II Milimetros rocket launcher mounted on the “baman VLC cobra 3.0” chasis, while having both HE and AT rockets, while also having a laser range finder https://www.infodefensa.com/texto-diario/mostrar/3077428/sistema-condor-slt-70-ejercito-colombiano-supera-pruebas-tiro

Add the M108 to the Tech Tree, Brazil, Chile and Uruguay already had them and it is not in the North American TT, in fact if I’m not mistaken the only countries that currently use it are Chile and Uruguay, perhaps as a premium as we already have the CATAP BMP-1-100 which has a similar caliber and the TAM VCA which is also a self-propelled howitzer.

what is the M108? do you have any photo? It doesn’t sound like anything to me

I love it.

But I think a few changes would be good

I think the Centauro 1 should be TT as it fills such a huge gap between the Centauro 2 and its very similar. Its just natural progression

Secondly, id like to see atleast one of the piranha autcannon IFVs to replace one of those many light tanks with main guns, as having 2 autcannon IFVs as event/prem doesnt make sense considering how similar they are and there isnt an autocannon light in that BR range but a ton of cannon light tanks

I know that one was a model and another was only in plans but there will be some possibility that you put the Nahuel II and the TAP (Heavy Argentine Tank) this one is very similar to the TAM only that it had a 120mm cannon

In short, the M108 is an M109 with a 105mm cannon

Complicated issue.

We know for sure that by the mid-1940s the Krupp Modified 75mm/30cs grenades and projectiles could be German, French, Swedish or local. And we can assume that a country like Argentina knew how to provide itself with a variety of its types. But, although we have manuals and descriptions, there is still a lack of documentation about AP projectiles.
The only reference for penetration of the Krupp 75mm/30cs and Bofors 75mm/37.3cs cannons is that of the latter with 6.8 kilogram projectiles, fired at 595 meters per second and piercing 62 millimeters at 500 meters. For this same cannon, applying the Krupp and De Marre calculators from Tank Archives: Penetration Calculator, we obtain 75 millimeters of perforation in both calculations (data: 75.1mm, 6.8kg and 595mps ). Additionally, with a lighter projectile we obtain 76 millimeters of perforation in both calculations (data: 75.1mm, 6.32kg and 625mps).

Obviously the aforementioned values would be higher for any of those obtained by the Krupp 75mm/30cs cannon. At the time, using the same method, I had obtained the value of 72 millimeters (data: 75.1mm, 6.8kg and 571mps), but being more rigorous, these values seem exaggerated, so the calculated value of 64 millimeters (data: 75.1mm, 6.8kg and 510mps) or 62 millimeters (data: 75.1mm, 6.32kg and 510mps) becomes more realistic [here is a falsehood, in one of the two cases the speed should vary due to the weight of the projectile].
In the first instance, the lack of technical details of the armor-piercing projectiles prevents the use of Gaijin’s De Marre calculator New formuls for calculating of the armour piercing — War Thunder Wiki, although I myself have an armor-piercing projectile from this barrel (solid type, no fuze), so what I did was discard the requested explosive charge value, due to the “solid shot” condition. This gave me a penetration of 69 millimeters (data: 75.1mm, 6.32kg, 510mps, 0kg), reaching 73 millimeters (data: 75.1mm, 6.8kg, 510mps, 0kg) if a heavier solid projectile were applied [here the same falsehood occurs, to be corrected soon].

I don’t want to rave too much here, but averaging the previous values we would obtain that the Krupp 75mm/30cs with:

  • AP of 6.8kg at 510mps at 0m pierces 69 millimeters.
  • AP of 6.32kg at 510mps at 0m pierces 66 millimeters.
I don’t really remember from memory how we obtained and why we put 57 millimeters, maybe a typo, but as you pointed out, even with the worst values just obtained, the performance of these guns should be much better.

Let’s hope that in the future the documentation of any type of armor-piercing projectile will be revealed. With explosive projectiles we have no problem.

Additionally, the compatibility of late 194S HEAT projectiles (6.2kg) must be confirmed too.

I hope I have been clear and concise. I am at your disposal to continue discussing this.

Another couple of vehicles that could be added if needed, although they would be copy pasted to fill the gaps could be the Uruguayan Bmp-1 and their 2s1

The Nahuel II and the TAP are fictional tanks, the first as the invention of a modeler and the second because it never surpassed the instance of an idea (that is, it was never a real project).
That prevents us from suggesting them in this game.

Excellent summary, I didn’t expect anything less. I’ve been following you for years on ZM. It’s good to know you’re behind this, DL-43 is one of my favorites.

It would be good to accompany this data with the distance and angle of penetration.

greetings.
