Ladies and gentlemen, it is with great pleasure I present some new information I’ve come across regarding a vehicle that was suggested here:

I’ve been doing some digging, and I found something you all might enjoy to see, as I found a rare image of a M.D 450B Ouragan in service with El Salvador which depicted it with a very unique feature:

That my friends, is a pylon for mounting/using the Shafrir 2 AAM. I’ve always read the El Salvador had/used the Shafrir AAM, but could never figure out what they used it on, and today via this article:

I’ve uncovered that it was actually very likely tested on this aircraft, and not just any Shafrir, the Shafrir 2 nonetheless!! This addition would officially make this aircraft a unique addition to the game, (and although I would prefer if it went to the Israeli TT) it could bring uniqueness to a potential LATAM TT in this configuration!

The Shafrir 2 exhibit in its current state, most recent of images is from 2 years ago:
and would you look at that, right next to the front of a Ouragan turned into an exhibit… I wonder what that could imply… (if anyone lives in El Salvador and wants to grab a pic of that Plaque next to it, you’d be my hero!)

The article cites the following sources: (which I may need to get my hands on in the near future 👀)

HISTORY OF THE SALVADORAN AIR FORCE – Douglas Alcides Cornejo Escobar (2002) – ISBN: 99923-0-076-0

HISTORY WITH METAL WINGS (1790 – 1986) – Marco Antonio Argumedo Najarro (2016) – ISBN: 978-99961-0-513-5

AEROTECHNICIANS’ INCREDIBLE STORIES – Herard Von Santos / José Jesús Castillo Blandón (2014) – ISBN: 978-99961-0-402-2

Sidenote: kewl pics of No.713 and No.714

Anyway, that’s all for now, hope you all enjoyed my findings!

Awesome find. I too read about it using Shafrir 2 somewhere, but could never find proof of it. Thanks for sharing!

Now I wonder if it could carry those missiles together with at least one rocket pod on each wing. It’d turn it into a pretty flexible fighter and stand out even further from the other Ouragans already in game.

Just no, thanks.

actually, thinking about it, if this tree were to be added it would have the most amount of alpha jet-like aircraft in game:
a-36 ( C-101) (chile)
pampa (argentina)
JL-8 (bolivia/venezuela)
MB-339 (argentina/peru)
L-39 (cuba/nicaragua)

which is fine with me bc i want to colect them all

Honestly, the Mexican F-5Es would likely be my fav plane in any Latin American TT/Sub Tree, just because of that config. Due to that, I say absolutely to including it

Honduras also had F-5E Tiger II’s

Along with sabres too (F-86K & CL-13)

Super Mystere

P-63

These would be cool to have in game even if they’re just skins

The Super Mystere is actually a Sa’ar

This is another thing that is nice about the LATAM tree: there’s tons of potential for historical skins since many of the vehicles were used by multiple LATAM countries. Having such skins also helps to represent everyone.

did the B-17 lost all of it’s defensive armament? Even in the last photo I can’t identify any

Yes. Flying Fortresses in the Brazilian Air Force were only used in the SB-17 variant, for search and rescue. The only relevance of those photos is to serve as reference for an optional skin for the Dominican B-17G.

A friend of mine founds this: IAF Ouragans used FFAR rockets too, SNEB rockets as well. It wasn’t a El Salvador thing but rather this capability was inherited by the capabilities of the IAF Ouragans, only the Shafrir 2 seems to be:

He also found some photos of the Shafrir 2 on display while the aircraft was in service:

I see. I based myself off of the Ouragans already in game to claim that. Guess Gaijin also has to add those to Israel then. Thanks for the pictures.
