Would you trade in a major update for a large game improvement update
About idea to trade in a content update for an update which purely focuses on getting the game into a good shape. Since we all know the game has quite a few issues, some of which might genuinely have been here for longer than a few of its players are old.
So what if we for one patch cycle just devoted everything to just improving the game and agreed that being bored of this game for a bit might be better than playing this game with all the frustrations (name your main one if you want)
should add that im not just talking about bugs. but also bad maps, wrong vehicle models, missing cockpits, all the issues in general

Yes.
But not going to happen.
I am convinced Gaijin has a standing order that all updates must include cOnTeNt.

that you didn’t want to name an issue yourself is telling
simple truth is war thunder lives off it’s own hype cycle, the hope that new vehicles will make the game better
enjoy your stealth jets, submarines or whatever in october
Does he really have to? We all know the issues.

I prefer more content. I feel like bugs worth mentioning do get addressed and others may not be as bad as they seem to the devs or whoever fixes things. I can’t speak for everyone, but most of the bug I hear about are in modes I don’t play or battle ratings I don’t care for.
- Aircraft carriers in Sim
- Radar-slaved gunsight in Sim
- Gyro gunsight in Sim
- Aircraft turn into lowriders on the runway due to crashed ai planes (bounce bounce bounce (Community Bug Reporting System - personally reported. Example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wO5eGwe2j1I)
- Anti-air guns for prop tier Ruhr and Denmark EC do not work.
- A.I planes in early jet tier Air SB defy physics: Community Bug Reporting System
- A.I planes in early jet tier air SB on 128x128 km maps have warp speed when you are outside of a certain range, skipping ahead entire gridsquares: Community Bug Reporting System
- Severe Damage can cause multiple kills if you ignite the enemy: Community Bug Reporting System
- Community Bug Reporting System Sinai Airfields impossible to use sensibly in sim due to thunderclouds.
- Aircraft with naval landing hooks do not deploy landing hooks in SB, but do deploy them in RB Community Bug Reporting System
- Ground convoys phase through the ground while travelling
- Ground convoys pilot snipe people even with rooftop .50 cals at prop tier ASB from 1.5 km out while travelling at 450+ km/h in a snaking pattern.
- A.I planes on Denmark and Dover Strait get stuck in eternal circles around D4.
- Stuttering issues after ~80 minutes of match time in EC SB.
- Sometimes the objective handler logic breaks and stops spawning frontline battles for over 30-45 minutes, thus no air superiority points or strike fighters either.
All of them have bug reports, the links I made are either those personally reported or which I have a link for on hand.

The devs that create 3D models and add new vehicles and maps are not the same ones that troubleshoot and fix core game mechanics and bugs. There’s no reason to tell the 3D modelers to stop modelling when they can’t fix bugs anyway
It doesn’t work that way, it’s not like you will magically spawn more devs that work on fixing issues or making the game more stable. This question, or rather request, is getting old.

It’s a perfectly valid question and I find the hostile reaction it garners from official sources, or volunteers who speak with sanction from official sources to be weird.
It frankly reinforces my suspicion that Gaijin has set a rule for itself where ALL updates MUST have content no matter what, no matter anything else.

Constant new features do lead to increasingly accumulation of technical debt.
Requiring developers to be in a constant rat race to appeal to shareholders without long-term consideration is a very common point of pain and suffering in the tech industry. You can either modernize an old system that’s about to fall apart and create long-term viability but seemingly do nothing in eyes of laypeople (consumers, shareholders) or slap together yet another hodgepodge system relying on faults and increase workload down the line (visible content).

Ehhh you’re not going to appeal to anyone with that even though you’re right.
At a more down to earth level, an issue the common person can understand is that divided time and divided effort leaves things to be desired.
It would be a valid question if it made sense to begin with. Asking more devs that have nothing to do with fixing bugs or working on QoL changes to… do these things, simply doesn’t make logical sense does it?
And to add onto that… that would lead to what? One update having content and the next one being fixing the previous update? Bug fixes are always there and in between of every patch too.
I’m not sure where the “hostility” lies in our answers, we’re simply coming back with an answer.

Kinda passive aggressive though I willingly accept it’s not meant as such.
Anyway… A patch cycle that is just performance and bugs and stability once in a while will make huge headway on the half bugs/half content typical patch the next time. Sprinkled here and there wouldn’t be a problem.
It’s also a bit of a Straw Man to claim a fact not in evidence; that every patch WILL introduce bugs as a matter of fact. Sure maybe Gaijin has that track record but it’s not a rule…
I’ve just seen this topic pop-up frequently and I do not see a way in which it can work. I do understand the concerns with making sure that the game runs smoothly, but we must consider other elements that can change the focus.

So are you saying content is a more important focus than general performance/stability?
I’m saying that both are important and both get worked on at the same time. As we can see, every update adds a ton of new content and there are the usual posts with bug-fixes and/or QoL changes. I’m unsure whether it would be possible to stop entirely with content and “make” the game better performance wise.
The other issue would be that, without adding content, bugs won’t come out until said content actually gets into live servers. An example would be the missiles issue that we’ve recently had. Or the SAMs needing some more fine-tuning as soon as they’ve hit live.

So content is purposely pushed out to find out what the bugs are?
Ok. I’m just going to exit this topic. Thank you.
You are just putting words in his mouth…
That is… not what I’ve said. I’m saying that content coming out could have some bugs that were not spotted on the Dev since the nature of the servers is different… Please let’s not twist words here.
