Kpz and XM/MBTS

For a while if you hit a kpz/mbt with a bomb it tends to live what it should not, in many cases the KAB-500Kr simply lands on its turret and does no damage (not even a barrel let alone a track) and simply explosed with doing no damage, just this game alone ive had dropped 3 KAB-500s on 3 kpz/mbts and these are the two results while one only got the breach,

while i would understand if it was a battleship that these landed on, in no way or shape of form should these casually and pretty reliably live bombs directly on top of them.

not unique to these vehicles, why hull break needs to be in game so HE only warheads can be consistent.

Hull break was a terrible mechanic

so what does this community actually want? functioning missiles or dumb situations like these? Right now the overpressure mechanic is horrid and causes 155 mm HE to do nothing to reserve tanks in a lot of situations.

shivers in T-72

Turret just swelled a bit, tank would def be alright irl

Overpressure works quite well, can use some more tuning and fixes, but its the right direction.

Having an APFSDS graze the back corner of your BMP-3 and causing “hull break” is not the right direction

Or kv2 slamming a 152mm shell into a flak 88’s engine and not causes hull break.

this tank is just weird, I mean the driver is literally sitting in the turret lol so getting shot in the turret has a chance to immobilize your tank lol

Only because it was implemented like shit and was trigerred by literally any type of shell. It should be brought back on condition it is only applied to shells/bombs/rockets/missiles with HE equivalent of 30-40kg of TNT+

Originally it was restricted to stuff that exploded with a decent amount of filler but some idiot convinced the devs that everything from a 203mm naval HE shell down to light machine gun ammo can “hull break” stuff

It was super stupid and if allowed to return needs significant restrictions (such as not being possible with KE ammo+requiring a center mass hit to occur+being possible on all vehicles rather than just the ones arbitrarily given hullbreak-able status)

That’s just moving the arbitrary limit up, its still the same bad mechanic

It was bad exactly because arbitrary limit was too low. Otherwise you need to substantiate why it is a bad mechanic. Whats wrong with 50kg of TNT instakilling a vehicle? It’s both realistic and fair gameplay wise, tanks should NOT survive direct bomb hits, it’s ridiculous. Current overpressure mechanic obviosly not suited to handle largy yield explosives. Oh sorry your 117kg of TNT penetrate only 82mm of armor but landed on 90mm plate? Sorry nocando, Hit it is.

The problem is now 49kg explosives do not. That’s not a mechanic, that’s just an internal flag that says these weapons instakill, these ones don’t, regardless of the target

Overpressure was designed to actually have a mechanic, munitions have HE and kinetic penetration, and armour has thickness.

Problem is it isn’t working quite well at the moment, but going backwards to arbitrary limits isn’t the answer.

I will clarify that I don’t think that overpressure needs to go. I think both mechanics should coexist at the same time. Ovepressure handles “low” explosives and hull break handles “high” explosives. It may be crude but:

  1. It is still infinitely better than what we have currently.
  2. This is a game, and games will always have game conventions, what matter is the end result. I don’t need shitty simulation for the sake of having simulation because “we are stiving for realism” if it doesn’t do its job.

That goes both ways

How exactly? “Our game convention is that shit doesn’t work properly” ? What kind of convention is that?

Overpressure is a game convention

Ok, how is that “both ways”?

You said the game will always have conventions, but that’s true whether you have overpressure, hullbreak or a mix of both. Its a meaningless statement
