Indeed, although I personally view it as a benevolent but flawed and overzealous demigod-angel that acts as a teacher and judge, having Made existence deliberately painful. Because the more suffering and necessary evils you manage to overcome, the more you grow mentally and get closer to Gnosis (enlightenment/wisdom). Imagine the demiurge to be a blacksmith beating you into a perfect Form.
