If a Swiss vehicle have tie with French tech, go to French TT.
If a Swiss vehicle have tie with German tech, go to German TT.
If a Swiss vehicle use both tech, go to both TT.
Should have been this from starter. I don’t see what subTT bring to War thunder except more drama, since they can just chose wich vehicle of wich “subnation” can go anywhere.

It would have been better if Italy was a minor axis tree right from the start and not with 2-3 subtrees

Yes, that 's very much the point - after all, those minor techtrees still do not have the capability for upwards expansion even w/ subtrees attached. They’re just filling out for the " now " period while they can still be relevant in comparison to more major techtrees.
Take Sweden, for example: They only have one more domestic airframe left to implement in it 's various modifications, and it 's expected to be so outclassed by later additions that current evidence points to the very first one to appear ingame not even being the initial one.
Their ground tree is in an even more precarious state, since it 's already at the absolute final state that the subtree can bring it to - only thing left to go on top is the Strv 122B+, which was already in the files, UHD textures leak.
