while we are at it DCS has Russian liveries for the F16, F18 and A10, and since DCS is a Simulator then surely its 100% accurate and Russia can get them

No. The MiG-29 could theoretically launch R-60M’s, but that was almost always only for training. R-73 was the “dogfight missile” designed mostly by Molniya OKB for submission into the LPFI/PFI program that produced the MiG-29 and Su-27.
This is like capping the future M1A2 SEP v.3 at M829A2 instead of A3 because “the BR gap would be too large”.
The BR difference is marginal in both cases, and in return, you are really limited in gameplay style because of your offensive capability.
The better solution is take away all E variants of the R-27, and keep it at 12.0. Bring in the MiG-29M at 12.3 (basically MiG-29G), and then folder the SMT with it.
That or keep them all at 12.3, maybe expand into 12.7 depending on how they’d work the 29M and 9.13+R73, and add the MiG-23-98 at 12.0.
