Canberra could only carry 5000lbs of bombs
Avro Lancaster could do 21’000lb of bombs
Tornado IDS can do 12’000lbs
That’s pretty bombery
It’s weird, I always read about how maneuverable it’s supposed to be, but if it flies like a brick ingame it definitely is overtiered at 11.7

I think its maneuverable for its time, just not compared to jets designed for 9G pulls

That, at least to me, looks like the K/PZS-01 pod we already have on the Q-5L.
I just hope they fix the TV tracking, it’s way too inconsistent

It’s a big load, until you compare it to actual bombers of the Tornados era (or even just the F-111)
The Canberra is in the same boat as the Il-28 and Yak-28, being first generation jet bombers, built to serve as nuke delivery trucks (and makeshift interceptors, I guess)

True, but being only 9 bombs off being Avro Vulcan isn’t too bad.
The plane’s obviously suited best for bombing given its airframe and payload. It’s not something i’d see as a Strike fighter or even a Strike plane just given how limited it is.
That said, the IDS is best described as an interdictor (its in its name)
I mean, in the end it really depends on what the operation called for, with the Tornado being capable of delivering precision strikes, general bombing (even carpet bombing with cluster bombs), interdiction, surveillance and electronic combat
It really is a plane built to fill a few too many roles and looking at the Eurofighter, Britain, Italy and Germany definitely learned from that mistake
