Kings of Battle - Rumor Round-Up and Discussion (Part 1)

Of course, but I just can’t see players of those main nations not wanting to stay in the spotlight and this way we’ll at least get rank 8 for ground out of the way and get back to more aircraft focused stuff next few updates.

It’d have to be the XF-2A then as that’s the only one that has a possibility of using non-AESA radar. Fortunately it has been passed to the devs twice already.

I don’t see why not as there doesn’t seem to be a jump from the A to the C.

I would agree if they didn’t just throw the 9Ms on the F-16C or AIM-54s on the F-14 on introduction. I think at worst they’ll test it on dev server for the update and then just downgrade it to an A or remove it from the update like the old R-73 test.

Basically, I think Gaijin has done all the tests they need to start leapfrogging tech instead of being too cautious and drawing out getting to the stuff we all want. No matter what, the gamemodes and maps aren’t gonna change before these stuff come anyway, so why postpone it thinking something will change.

Honestly I fully believe that they were holding back the Gripen to add both it and AMRAAM in the same update due to the fact it’s questionable that it can carry SARHs (I don’t think it did)

and I also sadly believe in Gaijins laziness that for the UKs top tier, they’ll copy and paste the JAS-39C and make it the South African operated one

Yeah that is my suspicion for the Gripen to.

As for Britain. I think Sea Harrier FA2 is a real possibily. They’ve just spent the last 9 months polishing the Sea Harrier FRS1 and the FA2 isnt that different. Same Shell and engine from the Gr7. Just need to update the cockpit (which is just a reskin of what they’ve got) design the radar and slap some AMRAAM onto the belly.

With several really good picks for Britain instead of just a straight C&P Gripen. I’d be really quite pissed if that is all we got. Would mean only 1 native top tier air addition all year.

My guess is they will bump up late 3rd gens with addition of AIM-120B to 12.3 then bump current top 4th gens to 13.3 with AIM-120C/R-77-1/MICA-RF/etc. addition. After that they could start filling 12.3-13.3 gap with early 4th gens like Italian F-16A ADF (AIM-120A-C + AIM-9L-Li) or JAS39C (AIM-9L + AIM-120B) or late 3rd gens that used strong missiles like J-8F (PL-12 + PL-8) for example.

Yeah, that would work. Would then also open the door for things like the F-15 and Typhoon to come as well. If they were too strong, they could operate with Aim-120B at the higher BR bracket

I don’t expect anything new or game changing for this upcoming update. usually october update is more like a filler one. December is when we can see those big boy stuff. But we’ll see…/

Yeah, its possible we might get a little something though. Gr7 came October with 9Ls and then we got F-16s and Mig-29s the following Dec update. Could see AMRAAM on Sea harrier and AV-8Bs this october with a more general roll out Dec

But wouldn’t that mean we would get fox 3s for everyone else? at least according to the J-8 dev blog?

That would ordinarily be my guess, but also what we were discussing earlier. PL-12 mentioned in that dev post is equivalent to Aim-120C

That’s how I interpreted it too, but the wording was purposefully vague.

We should expect AIM-120a and R-77s within the next 6 to 12 months. I highly doubt that they will arrive before the year is out.

If they want to bring PL-12s in then I would also expect to see AIM-120Bs and R-77-1

The AIM-120B is effectively identical to the A. The C variant is the first big upgrade.

No difference in performance between Aim-120A and Aim-120Bs. Just ground crew related changes.

PL-12 and I think R-77 are akin to Aim-120C.

We’ll get fox 3 this year. Only way Britain and Sweden can get anything higher than 11.7

Isn’t the C also like broken into multiple variants? So an earlier C would be closer to the A/B compared to later Cs?

yep

I was under the understanding that the B and C were the same aside from the fin sizes greatly changing aero. (B being shorter range but more agile and opposite for the C)

Must be mistaken.

I do know that the D’s are just nuts.

I have no idea, this is just what others have implied on here in past conversations.

Turns out I wasn’t entirely wrong, just not entirely right either:

The AIM-120A is no longer in production and shares the enlarged wings and fins with the successor AIM-120B . The AIM-120C has smaller “clipped” aerosurfaces to enable internal carriage on the USAF F-22 Raptor

C got many internal changes compared to B and it would be much harder to evade at longer ranges, that’s for sure.

on a sidenote:
(C is estimated to have 25G pull while A/B is supposed to have 30G pull)

Much of the sameness really. Either way, I would want all fox 3s that are to be added in that update to be on similar parity capability wise.

Speaking generally as there are many sub variants within each letter designation.

its a really good radar it have a lot of improvements over the older versions, am really excited to see the F-16I Sufa in game, it looks really amazing it has a TON of armament for ground attack and air to air it would be a really cool jet!!! and a really unique one!
