AMRAAM and other Fox 3 are needed and probably coming sooner rather than later. Britain and Sweden cant get anything (native)until they come. (I think China, Japan and France might be the same)

I think you’re too optimistic. They will most likely slap AIM-120A/B on late 3rd gens and call it a day. Next update will probably implement rank 8 for ground too so I wouldn’t count for some gen 4+ jets.

New Aircraft:

Britain: Sea Harrier FA2
Sweden: Gripen
Japan: F-2 (or prototype variant)
Germany: F4-F ICE

Fox 3 to pre-existing aircraft:

US: F-16C
USSR: Mig-29SMT
China: J8-F
Italy: F-16/AV-8B+
France: Mirage 2000
Israel: F-16

That’s my guess

Ah yea forgot lmao

then su27, finally, a missile bus

germany can get one more Mig… thats basically the same as the current one, just with R73’s. then its nothing till Fox-3’s are added

Probably

I’d imagine on top of this, there’d be a more ground focused update for US and RU so they’re happy while everyone else catches up aircraft wise.

In other words, win win.

Casue having a Starfighters Pt 2 update but with F/A-18s would be funny.

Ah yeah my b i got it mixed up again.

Not that either really need a ground upgrade either. But probably. Though I know Britain probably needs an entire major update just for itself to catch up in both air and ground. We are missing so much and what we do have, is barely finished

changed to my prediction

Probably, though they might just Skip to Aim-120C.

Though if we did get an assymetrical addition of ARH. With top tier jets like the Mig-29 and F-16 not included. Then the Sea Harrier would be a very good and maybe even competitive jet

Also could Gripen carry SARH?

That’s more than the F-16AJ ever was lol, honestly it’s a big possibility together with the German one

I doubt it, gaijin will probably add 120A or B then AIM-120C first due to their shorter range and worse seekers.
Like how they added AIM-54A and then 54C.

I’ve had so many arguments with mates if Gripen could carry SARH or not. The consensus we came to was “?” as there was no hard evidence either way. Leaning towards no though with the history of it

Imo it would be too big of a jump. They will definitely want to test nimble-ARH missiles (non-Phoenix) on some downgraded platforms first (like F-4 or Harriers). Not to mention the fact that JAS39 and F-4F ICE only carried AIM-120B.

Might have been like the Sea harrier, Developed late enough that it was simply developed with AMRAAM in mind and with that capability not really much need to worry about SARH.

Yeah, it would make sense to do some trials first. Harriers are their usual go to

Though this;

Spoiler

The J-8F is known to carry the PL-12 BVRAAMs (beyond-visual-range air-to-air missiles), but adding them to the game would mean the J-8F has a significant advantage over all opponents on the battlefield. Our team also had the idea to equip the fighter with PL-11 missiles as a placeholder, but such missiles could not be used on the J-8F due to lack of the target illumination radar. Therefore, we decided to introduce a set of 6 PL-8 missiles for the J-8F, which make the aircraft an excellent duellist at medium and close distances. The PL-12 missiles, same as other medium-range active seeker missiles for fighters of other game nations, will appear in War Thunder at the same time in one of the future game updates.

from the J8-F dev post, does suggest PL-12 at the same time as other “BVRAAM”

ye but PL-12 is AIM-120C equivalent so I doubt it will come that soon

Will be interesting to see what they decide to do. Maybe Aim-120B in Oct, Aim-120C and others Dec
