Kings of Battle - Rumor Round-Up and Discussion (Part 1)

Why shouldn’t they. Unlike the “Italian” Lynx Ger used this jet over 2-3 decades. Even made a Joint Venture with Mikojan to upgrade it in the 90ties.

They could have made the decision for Germany to be West germany after X point and so the Mig-29 could have been omitted in favour of west germany/“NATO” jets Like the F4 ICE. Yes it makes sense for Germany to get the Mig 29. But It could be a lot worse than it actually is

Wouldn’t change anything. West German Luftwaffe markings.

West German Su-22 (even with TV guided AS-14b, they’re good ingame, but just two per plane allowed).

West German Su-20

There are also Mig-21 of all imaginable subtypes with West German markings. Some of those were taken over from East Germany and operated for several years. Alot of this stuff also was imported from Egypt during the 80ties as agressor and trial planes for the Luftwaffe.

Same for all the ground stuff^^ There are also West German T-72 etc…

All im saying, is that you could have just gotten a Late F4 with placeholder weapons instead of Mig-29 or Mig-23. Yeah, Germany might not be the best line up in game, but its far far from the worst and is overall perfectly usable.

Dunno what you want to prove. West Germany had almost all Eastern planes in its inventory (up to Mig-29, around year 2000 everything went downhill since massive budget cuts for defense). Even ingame Mig-23 have West German markings.

Imagine if the best jet you could field was a Tornado F3 and not a Mig-29 which can run laps around it.

Also please imagine moving this conversation to PMs or its own dedicated thread. RR is not for this, thanks.

Ask for the Indian Mig-29. It should be possible to achieve, since GB got a T-90 from there as well.

Please for the love of god no. That was the biggest mistake Gaijin has made in recent history, Please no more Indian stuff in Britain tree, that should go to Russia. If we have to take a Commonwealth jet over any of the half-dozen British made jets we could have gotten this year. Then at least let it be something like the Gripen or F-18. Something that fits the nation.

As you might imagine, I totally agree with this, but there is probably no turning back. This whole subtree nonsense will be the future of WT. The addition of the T-90 to GB clearly shows what they probably have in mind for India.

Yeah… It was simply easier to slap over-tuned Soviet stuff into the British tree to pad its performance than to actually fix the British tree. Im fully expecting the next major update to contain a half dozen Indian IFVs/Light tanks instead of the British ones heavily requested.

Are you still really this salty about Hungary still ?

Like Germany won’t get half the world because,

  1. Overtake what a German tech tree would mean.
  2. It will make the game harder to grind because GM want everything.

Over the last week I’ve seen so many people play Italy and honestly that a joy to me. As people will be spending time to a nation that was pretty much forgotten after the AP update.

Seems like giving sub trees to minor nation have worked

Great visual aid, however its worth noting that with more advanced radars we are moving into a nearly unavoidable locking situation within the WT map size. That and if you are close enough to the emmitting radar your signature is too large to be filtered out.

Blue Vixen on the FA2 should fall into that category I believe. Should be one very hard radar to notch. Best guess, you’ll have an easier time defeating the AMRAAM than the Blue Vixen

Starting with powerhouses like the APG-63 many radars from the 80s onwards will have increasing areas where a lock is unavoidable. The big menace will be AESA, which imo should be totally seperated in BR from non-AESA.

Apparently Blue Vixen is more comparable to APG-73 radars. But Yeah, I agree, it will be interesting to see how they balance powerhouse radars in the future. Though they’ve not put any effort into seperating Gen 3 and Gen 4. So maybe they wont do anything

I agree, given the platform size, much of the capability of radars is limited by two factors

  • antenna size
  • power supply from aircraft

A light fighter aircraft like F-16/Harrier/Mirage/F-18/Mig-29 will be limited in radar capability by these two factors, aircraft like F-14/15/22, Eurofigher, Mig-27 all benefit from being large platorms with much more ppower generation. The soft factor will be electronic sophistication, which the west generally leads in. Later chinese aircraft will start to see that gap close as Russia falls farther behind.

Edit: My concer with AESA is that if you cannot evade the radar signal either through altitude, notching or reduced RCS measures then the question to live or die will become a strictly kinematic one, AESA solve all problems but missile perf. It would be wildly broken in game without ECCM measures or a hard nerf to performance.

Yeah, its going to be interesting. Im also semi-excited for the FA2 and hopefully soon the Typhoon because they are single seat aircraft. I always feel like the Tornado F3s radar needs a second player to be manually slewing it around to find targets, especially outside of the 5° vertical FoV the Foxhunter has. (which makes sense as a 2-man jet) Hoping and I believe it does, the FA2 has some more search modes, that will hopefully give for better look down and look up capabilities to find targets (especially important in SB)

I think we’ll see ECM before the year is out. ECM + Fox 3 would be a sensible update

Interestingly enough 2K11 is also listed as a threat on some RWRs as well (Hunter F.58s is one)

In any case I think gaijin is planing some more ground based triple AAA for EC maps in the future which would be nice to see. Hopefully with accompanying SEAD mechanics and on top of that larger maps to go with them.
