Kings of Battle - Rumor Round-Up and Discussion (Part 1)

Only B (RB99) unless you’re talking about other Gripen operators.

No difference between A and B in terms of performance, changes were things relating to ground crew I believe.

Yeah I just wanted to clarify the exact variant.

Ah. Fair enough.

There’s nothing i can find thats reputable that says anything other than the initial variant of the Gripen could carry a choice of RB71 (Skyflash) or AIM-120, the Gripen A used the PS-05/A radar which is mentioned but the variant Gripen A carried would now be known as PS-05/A MK1, it also fails to call the AMRAAM by its designation in Swedish service: RB99.

Keep in mind this source mentions Gripen is due to enter service in 1992, that would mean it was probably written before AMRAAM had even entered service in the US, let alone Sweden. Sweden had huge stockpiles of Skyflash at the time, I think its likely they would’ve included the CW illuminator so the Gripen could’ve fired them.

There was a suggestion a while ago though that low performance aircraft (ICE, SHAR, Etc) with Aim-120C vs High performance aircraft (F-16, Gripen, etc) with Aim-120B though might actually be balanced. So that is always another option for Sweden, But question still remains for things like France.

I don’t think ICE was integrated with AIM-120C. JA37D definitely wasn’t. So idk about this “solution”.

Hmmm… Okay, yeah thats an issue. …

Can we just get Typhoon back on the table please :D

Edit: Feel like that needs a semi “/s”

Yeah, that would make a lot of sense

I always ask myself what gaijin will do when they have added all existing aircraft since the implementing speed clearly exceeds reallife. They are also near to the end with all the tanks. Is that the day gaijin is worrying about?

They will probably just gap-fill to be honest, but also the game is 10 years old, I wonder when it will be time to stop updating further.

And add more nations.

If Gaijin continues at this pace, ground will reach end of the line for all nations in at least two years, so it’s nothing to worry about now.

No idea what’ll happen once there 's literally No More Vehicles for them to add, QoL-focussed update maybe )))

In the nearer term, the more realistic worry is that they’ll run into a wall for top-BR vehicles of the nations we already have - too little information for them to confidently try to represent them ingame. We’re already on top of that in Ground and Heli, still further away in Air and nowhere close in Naval.

Once we reach that point, I think we’ll see more sideways expansion - new techtrees and subtrees.

Add prototypes and other proposed, but unbuilt variants of vehicles

TSR2 would be very interesting for Britain.

I wouldn’t complain about this even as of right now for nations with substantial gaps.

Opens the door to things like Lavi, SU-47, BAE EAP, Hawker HS.1202 and many, many others

and that isnt including entire types of aircraft that we dont have represented yet, like strategic bombers

Even though Yak-141 exists, I don’t see Gaijin doubling down on a Su-47. I could see them doing a premium Su-37 however.
