That’s no good reason for copy slop
Some don’t care about it, especially if it’s historical copy slop.
Basically, it was Rheinmetall’s turret proposal for the Panther II
Spoiler

Sure, but at the same time, the II G is pretty much a US creation, so I’d argue it makes more sense to plop it into the American TT as a Premium/Event tank.
Tbh I feel like if there’s a cool story attached to the vehicle, there’s no reason it shouldn’t be added. Hence, my suggestion is to use Tiger II (280243) 332. On a similar note, that’s why I would like to see Tiger 131 added eventually. Though with 131, I will acknowledge that implementing it would be very difficult, as the tank, its image, and the number 131 are patented by the Tank Museum. So that would require Gaijin to form a partnership with Bovington, and even the,n as seen with WoT, Bovington still had some say in how the thing was implemented.
Would fit way better as just a skin on the current tiger 2
i mean if you give it to both sides i dont mind but where would it go into the tree
this is funny yes a american creation all they did was take Panther G turret and slap it on it was 100% built and made by germany it has no reason to go to america it never even saw combat gaijin rarely ever does vehicles that havent even been used
it was only put on for trial purposes it would never make it to game
this is the only panther 2 theyll probably ever add
Then just make it a skin.
They can make it a skin but probably won’t stop it from being added to that tree since it’s a famous capture.
An American king tiger? Ah hell naw
Definitely a no from me. If you start adding captured vehicles into the game then i suppose that the Russians should be allowed Leopards, Abrams, Challengers and Bradleys.
People choose nations because of their differences, their strengths and weaknesses
At this rate, you will end up just choosing whatever nation you want and have access to any vehicles built by any nations.
There is enough copy/paste in this game already without adding additional captured vehicles. Yes im aware that we have some already. We should be looking to stop the whole copy/paste thing where there arent any marked differences, not looking to add more.
Sure, I’m not denying the components were built by Germany. However, Germany had no intention or plans to stick an Ausf. G turret on a Panther II hull; that was purely an American concoction. So at the end of the day, it’s an American idea using captured components and thus would only fit in the US Tech Tree. It’s kind of like arguing that the French-modified Panzer III with a Panzer II turret should go to Germany because the components are German, even though it’s 100% a French modification.
We’ve got quite a few such trial vehicles in-game already, anyway, so it’s not that big of a deal.
Probably the only one that’ll go into a Tech Tree at least.
They could, but it won’t stop people from asking for the real vehicle, not to mention there are some specific captured vehicles with unit-specific modifications or variants that aren’t in-game yet. Honestly, it’d be better, in that sense, to add them as separate vehicles and deal with Tech Tree placement on a case-by-case basis.
Don’t even bother.
US mains like these are worse than russian bias
I did clarify this in the post. I don’t think it needs to be a tech tree vehicle for either nation.
To each their own. But I will say, I don’t quite see how what I said was incorrect. Did Germany have plans to stick an Ausf G turret on the Panther II? If so, then I’d be perfectly fine with it going to Germany along with the Schmale Blende version.
But as it is, according to current information, it’s a modification carried out only by the US. It’s a similar situation to the Panzer III/Panzer II hybrid the French did. Both are built using predominantly German components, but neither were built by the Germans. So in both cases I’d say the U.S. and the French ought to get them being that they’re modifications carried out by those countries exclusively. Just my two cents though.
so should russia get a maus since they mated the MAUS V1 and V2 hull and turret together ?
calling it a modification itself is so disingenuous
its a museum peice. they just plopped it on for show. its not functional nor is it done by the military.
but regardless, once the panther II program got cancelled, only a standardturm would have been mounted if any at all. meaning it couldve been an A, D, G or even F turm
That’s not quite correct; the turret was added to the tank by the US Army in 1945 for official evaluation. So yes, the modification is, in fact, an official modification performed by the US Army. Interestingly, the tank itself has never left the custodianship of the US Army since it was captured in 45’. It was also used into the 1970s as a training aid for the Armor School until the engine randomly and quite literally blew up.
Once the Panther II program was cancelled in 43’, there were never any plans to use the hull as anything other than a test mule, as it offered little to no improvements over late production Panthers equipped with Schürzen. So it’s very unlikely the Germans would have mounted a turret on the thing. Especially when you consider all focus had turned to the E50 Post-1943.
That’s a hard no, and a completely different situation from what I mentioned above.
Sim players probably do, but these days we are so far and few between
As someone who plays sim this would be a no, although if I knew it wouldn’t be added to the br bracket rotation then I would give it and absolute yes. but I could also get behind it being a event vehicle or BP vehicle so it doesn’t run absolutly rampant in sim
Cool to see, yet tired of the endless copy paste we’ve been force fed recently
