unfortunately only the name of the vessel is giving by hovering as described in the battle log - no players name or any other indicator if it was a bot.
I worked on the 3pts daily - have finished it yet but it would be of interest if I was wrong
hmm… this is the sort of thing I see when I have a mix of players and bots. If you don’t see that “Bot” suffix then it sounds like they were all players?
So the first thing i can think of is if you were using a Bluewater ship to get all the kills? Second is that planes don’t count as they are not “vessels” (boats).
indeed the (bot) was missing in my battle log - so even stranger as before…
it was the “cape roller” task which is not limited to naval targets - only “player vessels” were requested.
I killed 4 ships and 1 plane and 3 kills were counted afterwards - all by rank III bluewater ships (US Moffet deck)
I’ve personally seen things such as awards being given to the wrong person e.g. “Thunderer” in AirRB going to a player with less ground target kills than another play… (me!), and have read other posts where people say similar things. So it may be a case of something unusual like that happening.
“Vessels” are naval targets, otherwise its “Vehicles” , “Players” or “targets” .
(VESSEL | English meaning - Cambridge Dictionary)
And the kills att 9:32 and 9:26, is that one player shot with two different ships or is it two different targets?
Does the actual in-game task state vessel though?
I could only find info in the old wiki, which says it is player vehicles. The new wiki wasn’t a help unfortunately.
(It’s a moot point to the OP question though)
I don’t know, i just went of of what the OP stated :)
Just a thought – was the plane that you got one of the floats from the ship? I don’t know how those are counted for vehicle kills, or how they show in the after-game report.
(just curious)
yes - in german ist was called “Fahrzeuge” which means vehicles (not vessels - my fault) - from my pov this does include planes. But nevertheless - it should then be 4 kills instead of 3
no - it was a regular plane
as far as I remember they were different ships
They added “Bots” to a few tasks and challenges. If the task/challenge requires to kill only players, it still requires to kill players.
To give you an example of this change. When they introduced the current BP, there was a task that required to kill players:
But they changed it for Naval, so you could actually kill players or bots:
For the task/challenge to allow to kill bots, they have to be listed in Targets section. With the update you mentioned, the devs only changed a few tasks/challenges and added Bots to targets there. But the majority of tasks stayed the same way as before and you still need to kill players and players only.
unfortunately the daily tasks don’t have given this detailled rules.
Not quite: Bots acting as players!
A plane is not a vessel. And some ships are AI, not bots (convoy).
He talked about this update:
Other
- Battle tasks that need different interactions with enemy players to be completed (for example, destruction or damage) can now be completed against system named bots as well.
This is true for some tasks, but not all of them were changed.
I know. But it only includes bots listed on the scoreboard. All other AI in convoy duty is not counted. Even though they are vessels. Basically, the new rules for naval tasks are: if it lists in scoreboard, it counts as player for naval tasks.
The Update only claimed to changed rulings for tasks, not for challenges or awards.
I just checked this and you are correct. It works for bots, even if they are not listed in task requirements:
Spoiler
I took this task:
Got into the battle with bots:
Killed one of the bots:
It worked for the task:
So it should work fine (unless e.g. coastal AI bots vessels are bugged or something like that). Maybe he really killed convoy ships, it could be a good guess.
This task requires to kill vehicles. I completed it in the past by also shooting planes with Bravy. Unless my memory is failing me very badly, but I don’t think I’m that old yet.
The only planes that don’t count for it were planes controlled by AI (when bluewater players used their floatplanes, but switched to ship view before the plane was destroyed, it’s counted as AI kill then).
