Oh… Well then xD. I thought they can launch without lock at target point using GPS cuz yesterday while I was testing new spaa in custom battles, i saw people launching kh38 from very far away. When i died i saw killcam with twitching ground/not loading ground but also radar couldnt pick up guy from 40km so i assumed he launched in GPS mode cuz IR cant lock from like 13km+ (mav and kh38 share same seeker in game) but also targets dont load at 20km
That might be cuz radar are a little broken from what i sometimes seen (cant detect anything)
The baseline ground lock distance for the IR Hammers and Kh-38’s is 40km in the files.
The IR seeker doesn’t lock the target until around 10km.
They would have been ground locking.
Thats what i mean. Ground lock. I know IR is for terminal guidence but if u can lock ground from 40km its basically LOAL muntion.
People in my custom battles were experianced tho. They were spotting and shooting at the marked position.
But cmon 40km range is still beyond any spaa range
So why exactly is the fake ahh MT getting buffs instead of being removed
Its the same mechanic that’s existed since the early days of TV weapons. The 10.7 A-10A for instance has a baseline ground locking range of 24km, with tracking at ~10km.
Noones shooting at 24km or 40km.
And active radar SAMs like the slamraams will be very good at shooting down incoming munitions.

But you could with the SAL version mark the point launch it at that point then switch to Laser guidance for the hit?
W8 but u can lock ground at 24km. The point is GPS will hit this point but anything that doesnt have GPS wont
Tried it. Didnt work. Probably still very dev tho
And this is another problem is that if u cant kill plane he still can easily rearm and spam munitions again. How many times spaa gonna shoot it down? Its 16 for IRIS-T before it runs out of ammo and become dead in a water. Other spaa are way worse than IRIS-T
They can’t be fired in GPS mode remember, only in ground lock (POINT) or target track mode.
Early dev. You can shoot down munitions handily with fighters and fox3’s, the SAM version will very likely be the same.
That’s been the case for quite a while now, with the Pantsir. Its pretty easy to dodge incoming Pantsir missiles, and at that point the only thing they can do is shoot down your AGM’s/bombs.

My point is glabbabbrob promised us to have CAS stopped or be harder to use but then made them shoot further and make it intercept munition simulator that u cant play forever with spaa
Yes, but noone really does that with the laser Hammers, never a lot of reason to. Maybe the new SAMs will change that.
No, they promised having better tools to defend your team with. Shooting down incoming missiles is just as important for helping your team as destroying the planes is.

We probably dont understand each other xD.
I mean if u can lock a point on ground. GPS will guide it to that point without crashing into ground
True but ammo is still a VERY big issue for spaa
If its ground locked to a point on the ground, it will guide to that point.
Same as GNSS bombs guiding to the GNSS target you set on launch.
If its crashing into the ground early, it means its either running out of energy and losing altitude, or the guidance battery is out of power (105 seconds of power for AGM65s for example).

Its a problem for any SAM. The ammocrates are there to alleviate that.

Thats the problem
People can sling kh38 beyond spaa range yet again but now make spaa run out of ammo. With GPS only munitions u could just move away but with terminal guidence like IR u would have to move a lot more further
Yea I hope they add it to new spaa i also hope that spaa wont shoot 2 missiles at one target
Its no different to Hammers beyond SPAA range, or AGM65D’s beyond SPAA range.
What they’ve added is more tools for protecting the team against them.
The new missile surface friction heating also means IR SAMs have an easier time locking them up than before.
You still need to work with your team to secure a cap point for rearming when your missile load runs out.

Yeaaaa hammers too. 65Ds definitely wont out range spaa looking at that they barely did on live
Hammers are veeeery slow tho
Thats very overstated imo. It didnt change anything that much. It often lose lock
Since this change on live i havent seen anyone shooting down missiles with IR and i play both CAS and SPAA (more CAS tho)
Problem with this is how big new spaa are. They are not that mobile too (except slamraam and tam sam which have a big advantage here). And also u have to rearm each one. Something like slamraam if it wont get datalink on 9X it wont be useful in intercepting which leaves it with only 4 missiles
They already do significantly. They start at 10.7, facing stuff like old generation IR SAM’s.
That’s why you have to work with your team to secure the cap point.
Its your teams job to protect you from other tanks, as much as its your job to protect them from CAS.
