Kfir Canard has issues in Air RB

Out of all the 11.0 aircraft in the game, the Kfir Canard doesn’t have much going for it. While the thrust-to-weight ratio is really good, admittedly, it lacks in all key aspects.

If we compare the Kfir to another similar aircraft, the 11.0 Mig-21, it’s immediately clear which one has the edge in exterior weaponry.

The MiG-21 (11.0) is equipped with up to 6 All-Aspect R-60MK missiles or 4 Radar R-3R missiles.

The Kfir Canard is equipped with up to 2 Rear Aspect AIM-9G missiles with no radar whatsoever.

If we compare the MiG-21 and Kfir’s guns, they’re relatively similar overall.

The Mig-21 (11.0) is equipped with two undernose-mounted 23mm guns with an ammunition pool of 250 rounds, while the Kfir (11.0) has 2 wing-mounted 30mm guns with an ammunition pool of 280 rounds. It is worth noting that the Kfir’s guns fire slower, so while they last longer than the MiG-21, they also can miss targets at high speeds.

In dogfights, the MiG-21 and Kfir Canard handle similarly. Both bleed speed in turns easily, and both are better used in boom and zoom tactics from above. The main issue comes from the previously discussed Kfir’s lack of quantity and quality missiles. Due to the Kfir’s lack of all-around missiles, it can be challenging to get them on target at times, and they’re useless in head-ons, unlike the MiG-21’s R-60MK, which are good at it. The MiG-21 also has the R-3R, which can be an unexpected free kill at times.

The MiG-21 also has the advantage in countermeasures with 64 in total, while the Kfir is lacking at 36. This leaves the Kfir not only at a disadvantage of kill potential due to its inferior number and quality of missiles, but it also lacks the longevity and options the MiG-21 gains by having nearly twice as many countermeasures.

While I would prefer decompression at the end of the day, I believe the Kfir should return to 10.7. While the airframe itself isn’t bad, similar fighters at its BR are objectively better options for its role and it’s painful to play it.

Agreed
2 missiles at 11.0 is criminal

2 Rear Aspect missiles in particular. Especially when the F-5E FCU is .3 higher and gets 4 All Aspect missiles, including 2 Python 3.

wing root hardly counts as wing mounted, also the mig21 only has a single 23mm, just a two barreled one, generally I prefer the DEFAs but I find that the 23mm has similar velocity to it

The 23mm has better fire rate tho so its easier to aim

The Defa guns are nice, and I like them more than the Migs’, but they’re identical in performance from my experience.

DEFA feel more comfortable purely cause they last longer.

It also runs out faster, so it’s kind of whatever you prefer. The guns aren’t better than one another and guns hardly make up kills at 11.0.

True its no secret that gaijin doesnt like israel
Also dont forget that gaijon wants to sell the f16 netz over the kfir

I’ll probably get the Netz on sale

Or I might pick up the T28 or Super Hellcat.

As israel main i dont reccomend it
Its not very good on 12.7
If it get downtierd then yea
Also u have alot of time to wait until it gonna be on sale cuz its new

I did say I’d get it on sale. I never buy at full price and I only buy anything in WarThunder when saving up gradually throughout the year.

how does a high fire rate make something easier to aim?

Less of a gap between rounds when at high speeds. It means that the MiG-21 has a tighter kill area when strafing enemies in fights.

personally I just time my shots better ig

Sometimes, your best bet when flying past an enemy is to shoot in front of them and hope one hits. During this situation, the Mig’s guns are better, and I’ve lost kills in the Kfir because the gap in my full auto bursts is large enough that some people get lucky and slip through.

I guess, I just like 30mms and don’t like the russian 23mms

I’m not a big fan of Russian aircraft guns in general lol

They run out of ammunition far too fast for my liking. The Vulcan is where its at for me.

the 20mms on the later yak 3s and 9s are good fun
but yeah thats basically it

I like the Russian Helicopter guns, but I’m not a fan of small ammunition counts.

The Kfir Canard is the fastest bomber at its BR 2nd to none.
It has decent flight performance and 2 AIM-9Gs as well.

The Mig-21Bis has a reduced speed and is primarily a fighter. R-60Ms mean nothing in the front aspect to flare-equipped aircraft.

If you’re treating a strike aircraft incorrectly labeled “fighter” as primarily a fighter, you do you, but it’s BR’d because people use it in multi-role far more often and so should you.
