According to this official iai book the kfir c7 can take 2 gbus
Only with buddy lasing. There’s no game mechanic for buddy lasing
Well, problem is they’re buddy lase, so another aircraft or someone on the ground needs to paint the target with laser. That’s something we don’t have in WT.
Oh well thats sucks
Oh wait
I will save u the translate it says the kfir c7 could also take pods
If i have to guess its the same pod that the k2k have
Also in the pic i sended earlier u can see something under the nose i think its a laser device but im not 100% sure
Kfir C7’s could have Pave Penny, but I’m not sure if it’s a targeting pod. Some sources say it just lasers a target, while others just say its a targeting pod
It says it has both laser pointers and pods
The question is what type and stats
It also had electronic warfare but ig gaijin wont add this any time soon
The Kfir C7 variant in-game does not have the system, I could suggest it however as a new aircraft or modification.
A mod will be nice
Can be a great to add for the lineup of the merkava 3 since the kurnass 2k is going up
Also the bomb in the picture i sent are griffin bombs just to make sure
Pave penny is just a spot tracker, picks up the laser designations from buddy lasing aircraft (edit - or from ground based laser sources)
Aight, thanks for the info, as I never heard anything about a C7 or lower being able to self designate.
Had a feeling I’d see a thread like this sooner or later lol. But yeah as has been clarified above, it could only use these bombs through buddy lasing with the Pave Penny spotting pod. IAF Kfirs C.2/7s, A-4s (some had the pod in the nose), F-16s, and F-15s could all use LGBs through buddy lasing, but we lack this ability ingame. It’s a spotting pod, not a targeting pod capable of self designating,
Its clearly saying
מצייני לייזר which means laser pointers there is no confusion here
It cannot self designate, meaning it cannot have them ingame. They cannot be guided ingame. The pave penny pod spots a target point being illuminated by an actual designator, and then drops the bombs to be guided by said source. It finds the laser, it does not create a laser. Look more into the pave penny and its use if you don’t believe me. Its not a targeting pod.
I understand what is pave penny but what the book said is something else
The book said “It could carry laser pointers and pods to guide smart bombs”
Showing it can create its own laser for sure otherwise how do u explain laser pointers?
Also its mentioned that the c7 was the main strike plane for israel in this era so it would be wierd if it couldnt guide its own bombs
Likely referencing ECM pods, Kfirs used them in IAF and foreign service for electronic warfare purposes. They were usually mounted on Kfirs on the underside near the front of the aircraft on one of those two pylons under the guns.
IAF Kfirs, aside from the sole exception of the (not even really an exception as it wasn’t IAF, just Israeli) C.2 converted into a C.10 testbed (the Kfir 2000) never had the ability to mount or use targeting pods. This capability was only used on aircraft later modernized by IAI, such as the Kfir C.10s, TC.10s, and Kfir C.12s.
I would disagree with that statement then. It’s a fighter aircraft that lacked a radar or guided weaponry. Just ballistic computers and dumb/drag bombs and rockets. It was viable as a strike aircraft, but the F-4 was a much more potent aircraft at the time that largely took over this role when the Kfirs were pushed back to make way for the F-15/16s when they took over the air superiority role. Aircraft like the A-4s and F-4s were better equipped for strike capabilities.
Yea it said that aswell its somthing else
I thought the same until i checked it in this book
Mb its saying the main role of the c7 was to be a striker i got it wrong
Anyway its still saying it had laser pointers
U understand some hebrew? Maybe i dont translate accurate but im hebrew it means something that create laser
Shiryon Archive will help you out and clarify this better.
No, Pave Penny is just a laser tracker. It’s used exactly to pick up laser markers from friendly air or ground base lasers painting a target. So it allows the Kfir to know where the laser marked target is, but not to mark it itself.
Pave Penny is most well known from the A-10, whcih also uses it, but it’s non functional in WT. Note that even while A-10A’s are equipped with Pave penny, only the later A-10C with targeting pods are actually able to laser mark themspeves and thus empoy LGB’s in WT.
