Allied 4.7 teams have been suffering pretty bad since the M6 and M4A1 76 went up to 5.0.

If it wasn’t performing well, it would go down in BR. Adding APHE is a major buff, so it’s more than reasonable to expect a BR increase.
There have been quite a few tanks that have had this happen before, the Maus Chief among them, its armor is OKAY at 7.7, But move it down at ALL? it becomes Absolutely unstoppable. and it already wasn’t performing great at 7.7
So to compensate for that they gave it the 12.8/88 TS APHEDS round.
It’s not a buff, it’s a historical correction.

For it to be a ACTUAL historical Correction tho, it needs both variants of M61 available, as both were issued.

It’s still a major boost in performance. Those generally come with BR increases.
The Maus already had a potent APHE round. The TS round wasn’t a major buff. It was more or less a side grade.
a Boost in performance to a already underwhelming vehicle, which is bringing it up to standard for the BR.
The KV-1 Zis-5 is the same BR, has a very similar armor profile, that in places performs better than the Churchills, and gets a Far better APHE round than the M61, even if it has slightly less pen, it gets the Russian stupid angled pen. It also is far more mobile.

Honestly, Id prefer see them nerf the reload as well, Churchill MkVIIs had quite cramped turrets, the rate of fire was not as fast as it is in game, So maybe add a second or so to the reload, add the APHE, and it could 100% stay at 4.7
BR is based on performance. It was performing acceptably for its BR.
What does that have to do with anything? I don’t set BRs in game, Gaijin does. Their data shows the Churchill is good where it’s at.
Their “data” is ai Generated slop garbage, just like all the fuckin textures for all the new crap they add.

I don’t think M61 APHE is going to suddenly propel its winrate over 55%. It might hit 50%, which is fine. It’s still ungodly slow, still has no stabilizer, still has bad penetration with no ability to flank, the only difference is better post-pen damage.

Clearly 0.69 kills per spawn makes the Churchill Mk 7 an unbeatable boogeyman that is singlehandedly mercilessly terrorising the 4.7 BR range.

The biggest problem with the Churchill now is stuff like the SAV, which can just snipe the Air intakes on the side, and destroy it with no issue, due to APHE overpressure.
I cant really call being on an even, historically correct playing field a buff ngl.
The M60A1 RISE P has similar win rates and slightly better kills per death with an M735 Gaijin acknowledges they modeled wrong and yet it still doesn’t get M774 or M833, when it historically used those and M900 in combat. The Churchill is not unique, except it’s getting a correction. It should get a corresponding BR increase.
Different vehicle, different circumstance. The British are still using fake L23 on multiple vehicles and hasn’t been resolved.
