Even planes that aren’t supersonic produce sound behind where they visually are.

That is not true. They are louder from behind than in front. But you don’t get that kind of Doppler effect. Sound directionality is just busted.

Yeah, that’s basically what I was saying. I’m around C-130’s and UH-60’s pretty often where I live, and when you hear them, and look directly where the sound is, it’s always in front of the sound, not at the “source”
