JAS39C Swedish model Technical Overview

Also technically, even having the ability tonuse GBU-39 would fall under inproved CAS avionics as that was part of the upgrade iirc (meaningless gameplay wise though)

I guess because of internal designations at SAAB in the prototype stages. That is my guess at least

The MS is the Swedish militaries designation for what they have upgraded with.

I think it’s because it started already with the Viggens but i’m not at all sure here, it’s just a wild guess.

The Viggens were not called MS from what I’ve found, I think they were called ED (Editionsändringar) but I am not certain

Welp denied since the Saaf gripen cant be confirmed as a specifc model despite plenty of evidence idk anymore, why even have unique gripens or sweden when i can get every gripen model by stating its a C model.

Guess i should just bug report the SAAF and Hungarian gripen as missing the MS21 features since they are a C model and get all the upgrades we didnt buy. Again i dont get the logic of why MS can be whatver gaijin wants but them the Blocks dont get that treatment.

Is this supposed to be like this? Idk seems kinda messy, i know gaijin doesn’t seem to care about the gripen A considering they only really focus on the C model but it would be nice for this to actually be usable.

@Necronomica

You’re showing a gripen C packing iron pdf? Okay, didn’t really answer the question about the Gripen A.

This is the old pdf too. Not even the more modern Gripen C foldout pdf

true, but at the moment the older pdf is more important in current tech tree generation of Gripen C anything newer than this will break forum troll’s mind

Considering our gripens are of variation “MS everything all at once” and i kinda doubt but hope we will get more specified variants.

Anything gripen related is actually quite perdinant.
(Until we actually get specific MS updates)

since the JAS 39 C was used by a few other nations i agree with statement

Again it has no relevance for the A model

@Smin1080p_WT can you explain what model MS the gripens are supposed to represent? The current gripen C’s don’t even use the C’s radar and instead use the A’s MS17 radar, it seems strange to add a gripen C and to not add the radar upgrade from when the C’s were created. Additionally any info on when the 5th bomb pylon will be added? Its been over a year since it was acceoted and info is appreciated.

MS17, 2004: color displays, better avionics, support for more weapons.

MS18, 2005: improved radar, a new system for electronic warfare, more data links, support for a reconnaissance pod with an advanced digital camera, and aerial refueling.

^this is when the C’s were added so again why do they have the aerial refueling probe and not their radar.

This has been answered already. They currently do not have an MS attached to them.

Currently no news to report on that. If you could link the report please, I can double check any statuses to be sure.

2 more questions, why dont they have their MS? As it stands rn it seems that sweden will likely not ever receive a correct gripen and as that is their only vehicle it hurts them as they are forced to use an artificially held back vehicle.

Are their plans to add CAS or options for CAS between 8.3 and 10.3?

Not the original sorry about that but this is a duplicate

Likely for game / gameplay relevancy there has not yet been a need.

We are always looking to fill more gaps, any suggestions topics are always welcome alongside what we already have in our plans.

Here it was sorry about that

Curious if this was still in the works considering this was acknowledged when the gripen came out yet it has yet to be fixed, yet the Rafale was given 8 missiles quickly.

Last question since this relates to the CAS, can we expect Denmark or potentially Norway to fill these roles (this is a hypothetical) or is it more likely they will go to another nation rather than sweden. They are the only nations i can think of that can fill that role as both sweden and Finland lack options.

Yet both the Rafale and Eurofighter have their specific models. Rafale C F3-R and EF-2000 Typgoon (Block 10 T2). These are just about the same as the Swedish MS.

Both Denmark and Norway are already present within the Swedish tree in the form of some vehicles. But at this moment, we don’t have any others to speak of currently.
