think of this as spilling water on a computer and asking the computer company to give you a new one without having a warrenty this is the same but the difference is it couldnt be stopped and no one is liable
I dont think they will help. Gaijin only compensates losses caused on their end like servers and stuff. There are so many tragic events happening in world but gaijin (and other companies tbf) dont provide any compensations. We could discuss how right or wrong this is but thats just how things are unfortunately.
Also I think that f16 and game in general should be last thing you and others should worry about. Survival, fixing consequences of disaster and helping relatives should be top 3 priorities in such cases. Virtual fomo thingy is really not worth it.
That is correct as that was a trouble on thier end.
And this is important.
Indeed, not Gaijins trouble,
Because they don’t have responsibility for it.
Your PCs warranty wouldn’t cover your spillage. (Funnily enough I used to work in a tech room in a major franchise at one point, and we denied SOOOO many warranty fixes…)
You spilt the water, it’s your trouble.
Japan having an emergency is nothing to do with anyone, and it’s not affecting Gaijins service, it’s affecting Japans service to everything.
Are you thinking that because people wouldn’t watch TV due to localised issues that Netflix or those groups should credit you?
The only time I think it’s reasonable to delay or hold it for a country is if, for some hypothetical reason, half a country let’s say the United States has a power outage for about a week. When the event is going to happen in 2 days.
In something like this, it makes sense because it will severely affect their monetary incentive
That’s at least how your initial message was understood by me, I have to admit, yes.
I’m not sure you read my first comment where I clearly stated that my sympathies lie with the people suffering from disaster, but that I find the priorities implied by that thread strange.
Let’s look at it again, you described the damage the disaster caused, and asked for help - but not help actually for the people suffering directly, but for players who because of circumstances surrounding that catastrophe could not finish an ingame event.
That’s how your initial thread looked (at least to me): widespread damage, many people losing their existence - and people worry about an ingame event.
Can you see that people looking at that connection find it strange and shallow?
No, only thing we GM’s are in charge of is moderation of in-game messages. I have zero moderation rights in the forum. Also, our messages need to follow exactly the same rules like everybody else, so, yes, of course you can report me, and if the forum mods think I overstepped, they of course will also sanction me.
Also, my messages are stricly private and have no official character. Being staff doesn’t mean one isn’t allowed to have a personal opinion, but we need of course to follow the rules - actually even more so because of that staff tag.
On the contrary. I think you still completely fail to see the issues we (or at least I…) have with your call for aid:
If you had actually asked for help in the form of humanitarian aid, I wouldn’t have raised an eyebrow. People suffer directly, helping them is absolutely necessary and commendable.
But it’s those that lost their houses, their existence, their loved ones that need help, not the players that miss an ingame event because of this.
you changed your pfp, wow
So you think that after suffering a disaster like this, people would care about missing an event in a video game? There are surely more important things to do than make up for the progress of an event. We all often miss various events due to all kinds of “force majeure”—sudden work or study obligations, unexpected physical discomfort, power outages or internet disconnection, or even sudden outbreaks of armed conflict, all kinds of natural and man-made disasters. So should we all demand compensation for that? Unless the problem is caused by Gaijin itself, Gaijin has neither the ability nor the obligation to do so.
First, the boundaries of “force majeure” simply cannot be drawn fairly. If compensation is given this time because of war or disaster, what about next time? Someone misses out due to overtime, exams, illness, a dropped connection, moving house, or the death of a family member—how do you set the standard? Who verifies it? To what extent do you compensate? Once you open the door to “we’ll compensate even when it’s not our fault,” you inevitably face an endless stream of individual appeals, every one of them equally deserving of sympathy. Either you compensate everyone—which is operationally impossible—or you have to draw a line, and drawing that line means someone gets excluded. That kind of “fairness” is fake from the very start.
Second, if you follow the logic of “missed it, so compensate me” to its conclusion, then any event a player fails to participate in for external reasons becomes grounds for demanding compensation. What meaning would event design, seasonal mechanics, and limited-time rewards still have? Being limited in time is itself part of what an event is. If every missed event can be made up, you have effectively abolished the very concept of “limited-time,” and the ones who ultimately suffer are the players who participated on schedule and valued the rhythm of the event.
You also need to distinguish between “sympathy” and “an obligation to compensate.” We can absolutely feel sympathy for disaster victims and understand their regret, but that is a separate issue from “Gaijin should give compensation.” Sympathy is a matter of morality; compensation is a matter of responsibility. Equating the former directly with the latter is a classic case of emotional blackmail—using a tragic situation to pressure the other party into bearing a responsibility that was never theirs to begin with.
Finally, consider Gaijin’s actual capabilities. Even if it wanted to, it could not “fairly compensate all victims of force majeure.” It cannot verify everyone’s reasons, cannot define what counts as force majeure and what does not, and certainly cannot bear the operational costs and precedent risks that would follow. That is why “it has neither the ability nor the obligation”—the two are linked: the impossibility on the capability side is precisely what proves the absence of obligation on the responsibility side.
We have to be realistic, this event lasted for 18 day, during this time you have countless of events on the similar scale as the ones happening on japan, you cant pretend that a private company have to compensate for every one of those as it is simply an absurd scenario
im talking about things who make a person stop playing for days, not minutes.
at least i put in my post that more countries are suffering from these, like China and South Korea - countries that have many WarThunder players. this could happens even in the United States.
a lot of games already do those things, when they notices that some players couldnt play. i think even GTA Online did it.
man, there is something in the post that says im asking gaijin to pay actual money? why people are saying that???
1 player missed the event: No.
5000 players missed the event because the 18 days of event were destroyed by the typhoon: Yes.
As i said, i did the event, but a lot of people couldn’t.
can you confirm this?
there it is
no north korea??🤣
even under Japanese law the PLAYER will still be liable for a house getting flooded due to a storm and the insurance helps Japanese government does not care and say it as what it is “acts of god” or what it actually says Fukafuryoku (不可抗力) and Force Majeure because that’s also what it is so if you want to complain to anyone complain to japanese goverment for letting power go out NOT gaijin and they will say its force Majeure
gajin wont care and if half USA power is out it usually means something worse that “I cant get gajin event”
I see you guys only suggest player bases that give gajins money get special event safety nobody cared about the Philippines earth quake or the hawaii flooding or hurricanes happening right now level 5 btw heading for Mexico right now much more violent than the level 1 that hit japan its hurrcane season so what can we expect gajin to be super kind and pay for all the damage?
