Japanese infantry discussion

I’m honestly excited to see infantry, and that’s because of the jsdf will finally be a playable military in a game. Discuss below your thoughts and what you would like to see.

Japan has lots of interesting guns. I’m particular interested in the “king of stupid gun” type 62 lmg. Supposedly it was so bad that troops named it single shot weapon.

Yea apparently had very bad early life, but most the issues was solved on type 74 variant.

The Japanese infantry will have an interesting start. Japanese police and security forces (not the JSDF) will be armed with Springfield M1903A3 rifles, the Type 99 re-armed for Springfield rounds, the M1 Carabine, and the M1 Garand. Additionally, they will be equipped with M1A1 Thomson machine guns and M3 Grease Guns. The machine guns will be either the M1917, M1918A2 Bar, M1919A4, or M1919A6. Anti-tank weapons will be the M9/M9A1 Bazooka and M20 Super Bazooka. Support vehicles will be the M3A1 halftruck, M20 armor car, M8 armor car, and M24 Chaffee.

Basically, I would expect their starting weapons be just a copy of american ones, as infantry will start with Korean war.

OR, they could copy Japanese BR5 weapons from Enlisted with addition of SOME american weapons.

Then I would expect the same thing for USA, Germany, USSR…

Running with experimental/not really mass used weapons, Fedorov Automat and “Submachinegun of Tokyo arsenal”, FG-42-2 for win

It wasn’t until the 1960s that Japanese rifle designs began to emerge. Tanks will be the worst affected. Japan will start with the M24 or M4 Sherman. They’ll have to contend with the T-55, M26, M46, M47, M48, IS-2, IS-3, T-10, etc., and anti-tank weapons (M9 and M20) will have a hard time destroying them.

i remeber playing siege with this thing

the recoil on this around when it first came out was atrocious. It’s “better” now though

Gaijin did add them to enlisted they don’t do much.

I think Gaijin will likely fill out the lower tiers of Japanese infantry with some rare Japanese WW2 weapons that where still in use (Very rare Very limited stuff), strange prototypes (Don’t know), Import proposals from the USA and Western Countries (UK, France).

Weapon companies really like trying to sell nations rifles stuff even though its likely to fail. I remember reading somewhere in the 1930s Japan got samples of M1 Thompsons with the hope they would buy the license. Post war the USA did give Japan some.

As far as I know (source: Japanese Wikipedia), the only weapon used by police and security forces during WWII that was Japanese is the Type 99 rifle converted to use Springfield cartridges. The Imperial Japanese Army was completely disarmed, and most of its equipment was scrapped.

Gaijin could add security forces equipment. AKA the National Safety Force. We are here for your safety

This is a list of weapons of the Japanese police forces and security forces (1951-1954).

Honestly, in an infantry mode, the Kawasaki H-13H would even be a useful helicopter. It could have been used in years without MANPADS, and it has access to machine guns as well as guided and unguided rockets.
