For a while, Japan only had a few options for helicopters, and to stop players from unlocking them all too quickly, they were given extremely high research prices (the Japanese AH-1E costs 360,000 rp, almost as much as a top tier mbt).
But now, with the addition of the newest AH-64s and the Indonesian Mi-35, Japan has a 50% increase in how many TT helicopters they have (6). But the research prices have not changed. Britain has the same amount of helicopters, but the first one that must be researched costs only 150,000 compared to 360,000.
As it stands, the Japanese helicopter tree is an absolute slog to go through. Who would ever grind out an AH-1E cobra for 360k when they can get a much more useful Type 16(p) at the same br and much cheaper?
(I know every TT jumps to 360,000 rp by the 3rd helicopter, but when it starts at 360,000 and the only option you have before it is the UH-1 with no ATGMs, it gets pretty painful)
OTOH; Its one or two levels that don’t have to be ground thru before you get to rank VI helis.
Italy is even worse. At least in Japan its possible to knock out the Cobra with the rocket bus Huey in a reasonable time in PVE. The AB205 is just endless misery.
I do not understand how the same heli with 14 rockets is still the same br as the one with 72. That is pretty depressing. But know know what else you get? 2 7mm machine guns!
Btw wasn’t it mentioned somewhere that AB 205A-1 would get bigger launchers?
Its been debated by players, but AFAIK nothing from Gaijin about it.

I do agree that there should be more progression besides 150k and then a jump to 360k+ for the rest
it was mentioned in the last BR changes that the AB 205 would be getting a 76x FFAR loadout in the future
i’m definitely maining it once it gets it, it’s a lot more nimble than the Japanese UH-1B AND you have the option to equip machineguns for A2A
I wish they’d just fill out the helicopter trees more and instead lower the cost per heli.
For example rocket only helicopters like the UH-1B are surprisingly fun in PVE, but most players wouldn’t want more added because the RP cost would be too high for something so niche.
Same goes for the higher ranks, where I think having more helis that cost less individually would be better. This way in the same time it takes to top tier you’d get more different helicopters.
