More powerful engines, HMD, NVGs, ability to carry TIALD pod on wing pylons allowing 2,000 lb Paveway on centreline (IIRC).

Thats quite nice.
The question for me is why can’t it carry the 2000lb on the inner pylons as it can carry 2 1000lb bombs and the ejection rack on top of it?
Probably to do with load asymmetry if only a single bomb is dropped.

I imagine it’s because gaijin decided those Magic 2s and extra Paveway made it worthy of a significant BR increase.
Unfortunately GR.1A would probably follow if it actually got those AIM-9Ls we want

After spading the IS. The Gr1A would be DOA with 9Ls as it would likely join it at that BR and even with magic 2s it’s almost unplayable. Especially if you want to use it as a strike aircraft.
I think the best and only buff we can hope for for the Gr1A Is maybe SRAAM
Except, nothing has indicated that Gaijin’s stance on which aircraft qualify for it, has changed.

The problem isn’t evidence. It’s the devs have stated they only plan on adding it to aircraft that could carry but no other IR missile.
In the big year of 2025 this thing seems pretty useless to me at 10.7 in air RB. 9Ls would give it something worth playing for without being too op. the Buccaneer S.2B gets to 9Ls at the same BR and is massively underperforming. Nearly all my kills in the Jag are with guns but hey Gaijin don’t GAF about Britain so likely will never see any changes. Same BR as the J-7D btw. What a joke the devs can be.

It is almost certainly in need of a 0.3 drop. 10.3 would suit it soooo much better. But I think its actually suitable for 10.3. Especially if it got buffs like the Jag GR1Bs digital RWR (TIALD and the entire cockpit is from the GR1B)
the biggest issue is ARB. Does really well in ASB.

Eh… if we directly compare it to some stuff like the Mirage 5F at 10.0 with no CMs at all. With the current compression 10.3 would be fine, on par with things like Mirage 5BA. Would also move you out of range of the Mig-23 spam and would probably result in more consistant downtiers.
Bug 60 flare, 216 chaff and 2x Aim-9Gs on a platform that can actually reach supersonic speeds unlike the Jag GR1… its tricky.
Certainly other buffs would help too, like BL755s that could be a napalm-esk equivalent, that would make base bombing much easier
