This is also just untrue, fully.
I pulled it from WTRTI database
Its mid dogfighter for the BR, slightly better than the mig-21 FM around those BRs which aren’t very good for dogfighting either
Is WTRTI still capable of gathering this info?
I never had issues with it, even for dev servers
Just click on the button with the plane icon on the actual app (Display additional vehicle information) and check vehicle info there
Could this be used in a bug report? Or will it get one banned due to its “restricted” tag
Yes there are no issues with this document, I paid for these scans from the RAF Museum. Although I do wonder what you’d report? We already have all these weapons beyond the types that aren’t present in game (Cluster bombs.)
I made one for the use of the L’s on the Jag, but alas their absence is for balancing reasons
Yeahh we’ve had a AIM-9L suggestion up for a few years, as you said its down to balance not capability.
Forget 9Ls, we need SRAAMs on the Jag 😜
I pray for the day we see SRAAM on a competent platform. Then it’ll be 11.0 having to fight loads of aircraft with flares
Hmm in that case ASRAAM on Tornado GR4 when? Because everyone knows Tornado is the best dogfighter in the world/s
I really do think that the Jaguar GR.1A would do with AIM-9Ls on the overwing pylons. It carried them in the Gulf War, and there are many aircraft sitting at that BR with all-aspect IR missiles now, it makes little sense for the Jaguar to be an exception, even if it can technically go supersonic. It also shouldn’t actually have access to the TIALD pod, but the difference is so minor it wouldn’t make sense to introduce the Jaguar GR.1B for that alone.
Likewise, the regular GR.1, according to most of the digging I’ve done shouldn’t be able to carry CRV7s or any rocket pod for that matter, it was at a point in time where the RAF didn’t really have a proper rocket pod, between the SNEB and RP being obsolete and the CRV7 not arriving until the start of the Gulf War in 1991.
The regular GR.1 also probably shouldn’t get any missiles at all, being a dedicated strike platform.
I could go on and on about the Hawker Hunter’s incorrect loadout options, or the Sea Harrier’s lack of fuel tanks, the Harrier GR.3’s lack of fuel tanks, etc. but I will save that for another day.
I would rather see the Jaguar GR1A get a BR reduction down to 10.0 ideally, but 10.3 more realistically given the current compression. Where it might stand a better chance of being able to performs its primary role. That bracket is stupidly compressed at the moment. There is every chance that 9Ls would only increase its BR to 11.0 where it would fair far worse than it does now, even with the 9Ls. Aim-9Ls can be strong, but they can also be totally worthless given their low flare resistance.
In the future, I would love to get the Jaguar GR3A with 2x Aim-9Ls at 11.0 though.
Ah, I was thinking more about Sim Battles specifically, where the all-aspect seeker makes a huge difference, and being a higher BR doesn’t matter all too much given that often, kills happen without the recipient knowing until it is too late, and that it would then face aircraft it was contemporary to in real life in 1991.
I think if Gaijin added the ECM pod to the port outboard wing pylon, with the chaff pod still on the starboard, then it would be a good fit in 11.0 or 11.3 sim battles, along with the AIM-9Ls.
Even in the ASB setting, a lower BR still very beneficial. Whilst yes, an unseen 9L in ASB is a lot more effective. Id still be worried about the BR increase, and without radar for IFF, the amount you can actually use those 9Ls is quite limited. My primary tactic would be to avoid the enemy at all costs rather than looking for targets to fire at.
Whilst I get the historical fit argument and appreciate it. It would not be a fun aircraft. Especially at 11.3. Tornado GR1 can barely cope at that BR.
Yeah, I understand, it really comes down to compression being an issue for these ground attackers, because facing stuff in the 12.0+ range is generally not fun, especially since in real life, USAF and RAF worked together to maintain some air superiority while USAF did SEAD and Ground Attack while RAF did a lot of Strike.
Yeah…
Meanwhile my poor Jaaaaaag and Tonka finishing a lot of games with more A2A kills than the Fighters
Same situation with su 39. I have no idea what the fighter players are doing.
