JAGM-MR(SAL) and JAGM-MR(IR) Balancing

So, as of the latest Dev update ( 08 / September / 2025 ) , the JAGM-MR missile was split into two variants: JAGM-MR(IR) and JAGM-MR(SAL) (SAL=Laser Only).

The JAGM-MR(IR) is understandably limited to only 8. Gaijin has said they will not add any more.

A new topic arises due do the JAGM-MR(SAL): Would allowing for a 16x JAGM-MR(SAL) be a balance issue?

They are still JAGM-MRs however they have the glaring issue of being laser only. At around 10KM they take around 60 seconds to reach a ground target, time in which they might drift who knows where due to the INS.

Attempting to use the laser is also very dangerous. I’ve personally had many instances where using the laser forced me to climb to 200 meters or more, which is well within the SPAA Danger-zone.

I am aware that some might consider this setup overpowered , and it is , somewhat powerful , but the Laser JAGM-MRs have the previously mentioned drawbacks, and with the swarm of Modern SPAAs that exist in the game, a lot of shots are going to be intercepted well before they reach their target.

For all the reasons mentioned above, would like for the developers to consider allowing the usage of JAGM-MR(SAL) on the outer pylons.

Edit: I am well aware the developers dont want 16 JAGM-MRs , however this topic can serve as a show of public opinion for whenever they decide the AH-64E needs a refreshment. As long as the limit on the other helicopter exist, the AH-64E should NEVER have 16 FnF missiles.
8 FnF and 8 Still tied to the Laser might not be as powerful as they think.

it is insane that they are trying to not give us the option, what exactly is the problem with 16 laser guided missiles that dont even give the same defensive capability as vikhrs

Nothing would be considered OP as long as the magical KH38MTs exist in the game :P

The only reason we cant have a full 16 JAGM loadout is because Russia never figured out how to fit 16 LMURs on the MI-28.

The US and China should not be limited by Russia’s inability to design a good ATGM or gunship.

Give the AH-64E 16 JAGMs and the Z-10 16 CM502KGs.

I really don’t understand Gaijn’s reasoning? When looking at the Mi28NM’s loadout, it can carry:

4 LMUR missiles: which are pretty much one shot kills unlike the JAGM. But I agree that the JAGM has more killing potential.

and

12 Vikhrs: which are miles better than Hellfire and depending on who you ask is currently better than the JAGM (if bug fixes aren’t implemented). It does more damage, has proxy, is faster (I think?) and can go through smoke.

Its only a matter of time till Ivan finds a napkin in a drawer that will be given directly to the devs that shows it could carry 20 missiles.
