The Rb73 was actually built? Ive been looking thru the internet and i cant find pictures of it let alone the fact that there was variants of it
There were variants, RB73E is what you see on the picture of the IR OTIS testbed of the JA37 with the canards omitted.
The difference between RB73D (DL?) and E is the shock cone inlets vs the more meteor like inlets of the E variant
The only production RB73E had was inlet testing and wind tunnel tests, as well as a few inert airframes to be mounted onto gripen A / JA37 testbeds along with old IRIS-T airframes
Unfortunately I can’t confirm if this is a different variant of RB73 or if it’s just a development of the E model that reduced canard size and added canards to the intakes
Thats pretty cool. One day i hope to see the IR Otis testbed in the game. Itd be pretty unique, especially bc of the IRST, HMS, and the RB-73E. I don’t know the stats of it, but it would probably be one of the best 13.0s in the game with all these additions.
Im just hoping they upgraded the rwr on the testbed at least because the current viggen rwr is pretty bad…
it’d more likely go to 13.3 or even 13.7 if it has everything
and yes there was an upgraded rwr in Ja37 service
Was it the APP-73M like ive read abt on this thread tho there isnt that much info abt it apparently. Im hoping its an analog the gripen rwr.
App73M was just jammed into the U95 pod, got a report on it
far and few details but some and you can guess a few bits as well as some good indications at its abilites.
it is digital like gripen
Seems lile youd have to give up an amraam to use the u95 pod, which is not the most ideal tradeoff considering the already limited number of amraams it can carry. Do we have any more info on what the other systems the IR OTIS JA-37D testbed tested? (Im hoping they tested the gripens rwr or something bc 3 + 2 config for AAMs wouldnt be the greatest at top tier, especially in the common uptiers
yep
Is it this document?
If not can you link what you’re talking about, I don’t want to be out of the loop lol.
U95 info is hard to come by ykyk.
Oh, on the SK37E that’s supposed to manage the G24/U95/U22/A all at the same time, theres a few clips of it in action during training in Germany, I doubt it’s the same display as what’s on the JA37Ds TI
Also the guy in the comments of the bug report calling APP 73 audio only lol
thats quite handy lol, unfortunately we dont know how it is integrated into the Ja37
assumptions are that it is on the Ti
According to the EW document it added 4 more receivers to compliment the original RWR set, id imagine that along with all the benefits of being a DRFM system it also would have an enhanced threat library to add capability against SAMs and other units, considering chapter 2 of the JA37 manual (the chapter with all the ECM / countermeasure / RWR info) is missing from the flygvapnet archives… well that means that we’ll never get the true picture on even the base APP 73, it had 6 receivers just like APP 27, there’s no reason for it to be a 4 quadrant system
But alas back on topic, U95 only added 4 receivers and the more modern signal processing, I doubt on the JA37 it would have the same display as the ECMD from störviggen, if anything it probably would have been intergrated into the datalink display on the TI like ALR-400 on the JF-17.
(P.S, why has nobody tried to get RB24H and realistic RB24s added to the JA37C? Sweden bought AIM-9B-3s with the SR116 reduced smoke motor, it would be a great help at least since gaijin wants to keep the 9Bs on it)
got anything on that?
https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/pdf/10.1080/04597229108460030 for the 9B-3
And
USAF weapons for the 9H stuff (it’s also been seen multiple times early in JA37 service) I would send the document but it keeps saying it’s unsupported :( it’s easy to find tho
this cannot be serviced
it is on 0 documents
Wdym?
Viggen manuals, draken manuals
Nowhere is any Rb24H or modified 9B mentioned
