with the second division - David Blue-at the flotilla. The modification means that the SK 37E has received “AJS standard”, i.e. data stick and data bus to be able to use the PLA facility for business planning and evaluation. Furthermore, the navigation system has been significantly upgraded with, among other things, off-road navigation and integrated GPS. In the back seat, a separate flight radio has also been installed for the operator’s special tasks. Compared to the J 32E Lansen, the SK 37E has better speed and range performance and the option to drop flares has been added. The Viggen, on the other hand, lacks out- The new instrument panel in the back seat of the SK 37E. On the left is the control panel for the jamming capsule U/22A and buttons for the KB capsule. In the middle is the control panel for the noise jamming transmitter G-24 - a legacy from the J 32E Lansen. To the right is the new color display for GMA for controlling the jamming capsule 195, a system collectively known as Axel. armor to jam aeronautical radios. The reason is, among other things, a lack of space. However, the possibilities for good jamming when training pilots are satisfied with the new jamming capsule U95. Of the remaining 14 two-seater Viggen aircraft, ten will be modified to the E version. The work is carried out in Luleå by the Swedish Air Force’s Air Force Stations. So far, three aircraft have been delivered, one of which is used by FMV’s test department at Malmen. Translated via OCR and google translate.
You need something translated?
Not rn but maybe at some point in the future
dw i had it already translated as its in a bug report
fixed
Hello people, I was reading through Motmedel inom Svenska Flygvapnet 1950-2005 and on page 44 an experimental RWR upgrade, App73M, for the Viggen is mentioned. Is there any info at all on the difference between the App73 and the App73M? Also, do we know how the U95 Störkapsel complemented the App73 on the JA37D/DI?
I have a bug report on it already dw, by next dev server i’ll push it to the tech mods
As theyre on holiday atm theres no point in pushing it as it’ll end up ignored
Just found this lovely picture of an RB05B mounted on a Viggen!
Wrong thread but thats still very cool
Yeah but it was the only somewhat alive Viggen thread so I decided to share it here despite it being a bit off topic
I just found something super cool for those interested. It’s one HUD recording and one cockpit recording from the JA37 when they were testing out new radar indications and HUD-modes in the early 90’s and cockpitdisplay from 1997 onward.
VOLUME WARNING!

these will be very nice for my reports on the viggen MFDs
I just want the JA-37DI to get IRCCM missiles and or for gaijin to give the regular JA-37D Rb99s, give it a bunch of test equipment like a HMS and IRST to make it better than the JA-37DI. Ofc it should get RB-74(M)s along with it as well to make it a viable 13.0 fighter.
The JA-37C should get upgraded to current 37D standard like OP said while perhaps a new, older variant can take the former spot of the 37C while getting the RB 71s 24Js and maybe even the Rb-72, an experiment short to medium range IR missiles developed by sweden
I hope gaijin changes something up for the viggens, they need a shakeup…
As stated by Smin Otis will likely be a different vehicle or just never added. Again i think the Di in the TT should be replaced with the Otis but thats just me. The BR’s are very compressed and the Di is basically only good in Sim.
As for unique missiles both RB73 and RB72 could be mounted to the Viggens iirc, Jaden would know more about the RB73 protoypes.
I knew about the Rb72 but the Rb73 is a new one for me
The JA-37D OTIS would be a nice replacement for the JA-37DI in the tech tree
RB73 iirc is similar to (Meteor referring to ramjet) how it moves, its been a while since i looked at it but its online to look at if you were curious.
you should see my bug reports lol
if they all get implemented at once it will be the biggest shake up since someone needed more money from a piggy bank
RB73E might be a little too strong for now but RB73D could be a nice addition
RB73E struggled with high G/High AOA due to the inlet design, maybe when there’s a bit more decompression it could be added
I assume your referencing the book by FOI on it?
