Yes
Hold up my point still stands though about the SR-71 being obsolete at the time.
It’s also a stealth aircraft. It wouldn’t have served until 1990 if it was “obsolete”
yeah so is the f-117A
which’s first flight was 6 years before the SR-71 lock
Can you see what I am getting at with the SR-71 lock situation
No, because no other aircraft had ever done it, to this day.
Doesn’t mean they couldn’t and could that also be the SR-71 was decomissed in 1990.
right at the start of things like the F22
I’m sure if the soviets, or anyone for that matter could, they would have.
My bad they were actually reited 89 reactived for a short time 90
They where locked on to by SAMs at least 4,000times if that means anything to how shit it’s stealth actually was.
Okay?
the point is they where not truly stealth craft they where just to fast to be caught. Look not saying the Ja37 is bad just not saying it’s as great as you claim.
But it does get the rep for being the only to have locked on it which is fine. It deserves it cause it did.
Now it’s not the only craft the F14’s and 15s pilots where trained on how to take down such a craft by activly using a SR-71 they did not shot one down cause money but they did train on how to do it. Maybe this also had something to do with the better rep to F14A for this flight speed.12 192 m 2 221 km/h. JA37C for this speed at 11 000 m 1 998 km/h.
The Swedish Pilots routinely simulated missiles shots onto the SR-71 with the skyflash with multiple simulated hits
Multiple aircraft tried, namely Mig 25s and 31s with quite decent radars and always failed
Speed is also not the biggest factor as theyre used in two different roles
in terms of computer and comparing the 2, the f 14s are a better standalone plane but if both planes are used to full potential then arguably the ja37 is better due to so many things that have not been mentioned yet
I’d love to hear
namely revolves around its radar and Jaktlink which provides really good situational awareness
Yeah, one of the first inter-aircraft combat links.
