No HMD for the J8B. If the PL8 is too strong I’d be perfectly happy with the PL-5c. I really just want at least one of its historical all-aspect missiles

I cannot speak for sim but it would be a nice 11.7 fighter for ARB if given PL-5Cs or PL-8s. It would be a good alternative to the MiG-23ML, sacrificing quantity (4 R-60Ms) for quality (2 PL-5Cs/PL-8s). I wholeheartedly support this idea, particularly with PL-5Cs as that would make it even more unique.
It would also solve that BR gap for China and make it a more versatile tree.

I mean to be fair the PL-5C was rear aspect historically and was really just an upgraded PL-5B. I dunno why the devs don’t just rename the PL-5B to the PL-5C and PL-5C to PL-5E, it would be the same capabilities just accurate names.

Yeah, though in that, its just that they are the coldest thing in the known universe (F-5 on full AB is colder than a F-117) but that is half off-topic (Total IR overhaul and rebalance would change and move a lot of things about, most of it for the better)

It was the equivalent of 12.7 when it had AIM-7s.
The point of my posts is that J-8B’s issue for the user is the sim BR and not the weapon loadout.

J8B is significantly worse than J7E in terms of pure speed retention and J8B is only close as a result of engine performance.
I can’t be bothered to reply to all ur posts cause there are quite a few of them, so if I understand u correctly, ur point is it will need to be in higher BR is it so gets PL8.
Well I understand that, it will have to be 11.7/12.0 maybe with PL8, but if it gets PL5C only I am not so sure about the BR. Mig 23 sits at 11.0 with better radar and R60M. Yes Aspide is superior to R23 but considering that the J8B’s radar is basically non usable I would take MiG23 every day of the week even after the potential nerf.
Whilst for the Kurnass, I can see quite clearly it is over BR’d and could see it come down in the next patch to 12.0.

I have made it abundantly clear that my entire issue and point of this post is the lack of the J-8B’s historical loadout of all-aspect IR missiles.
I reference SIM, because it’s where I tend to play the J-8B most, but that’s irrelevant. It deserves its missiles in arcade, air RB, and sim. If they think adding a missile like the PL-5c requires an increase in BR, so be it
