then let’s first try to have it’s flight model fixed,… the current J7W1 certainly is a Flying brick comparable to what are Hunter F.1 or F-104’s
I’d very much rather get the J7W1 fixed, fix it’s bugged combat flaps and either give it airspawn or put it down to 5.3
South Korea has too many interesting vehicles to be entirely skipped on.
China subtree.
Not really, mainly because F-16A Block 15 ADF was about a decade newer than the proposal for the F-16AJ. In reality the F-16AJ was a multirole interceptor derivative of the Block 10, using experiences from the YF-16 Sparrow testbed to match the weapon capabilities of the competing F-14 and F-15 at a time when there was no MRMs on any F-16. The most notable change here would be to the rear landing gear, which got two piece doors with attached Sparrow launchers similar to those tested on the YF-16A, but also other minor changes to the aircraft.
The door pylons were even tested, going as far as full-on launch tests on the YF-16. The only thing missing was guidance, since the testbed aircraft never mounted a radar.
Gaijin’s F-16AJ just isn’t the F-16AJ at all, because as soon as something isn’t built, game companies thing they get a full pass to just make stuff up. In this case this was some dumb reasoning why the proposed F-16 would’ve been downgraded to a level below the minimum expectations of the competition, even going so far as to remove the GBU-8 despite being mentioned in the brochure for no reason at all.
So while the real F-16AJ was never anything more than a paper proposal based on other existing aircraft and projects, Gaijin’s F-16AJ is just fake, based on a lack of understanding of Japan’s fighter requirements at the time.
That being said I get your point. J7W2/3 aren’t really anything more than post-war speculation. I wouldn’t even be opposed to some paper vehicles if this wouldn’t be such a slippery slope into complete fiction, but this is way too much.
I do understand the concern but my opinion is this “should it work?” if the answer is yes then sure, all the parts for it is there so to me it is not a stupid addition if it was ever added. R2Y2 they had no clue where the guns, engines or anything was gonna go! Hell to me a Ki-162 would be a better pick since that is a clone of He-162 at the very least then we know where everything is suppose to be and they could even copy pasta the german one over… The F-16AJ and R2Y2 is filled with flaws, to many for my taste. :|
R2Y2 they had no clue where the guns, engines or anything was gonna go!
War Thunder’s iteration of the R2Y2 were straight-up copied from page 81 in Japanese Secret Projects: Experimental Aircraft of the IJA and IJN 1939-1945 By Edwin Dyer, which goes to extreme fantasy lengths if Japan somehow had the resources and time to design new aircraft while still losing a war.
(They even have identical matching camoflages and paint schemes)

This could also carry rockets on the wings.
Yup exactly, while with the J7W2 we at the very least knows the majority of the aicraft, also that the development team wanted to do it.
This is what I want War Thunder to avoid at all cost, any plans that was fake and 100% without proof! I mean the Ki-162 at the very least is a He-162 clone that airplane would not bother me, even tough by the WT rules makes it even less plausible than the Shinden…
Edit: realistically speaking the J7W2 and maybe the Ki-162 would probably have started showing up at some point, if the US did invade mainland Japan along with other weapons that never got to fire a single shot.
I honestly don’t understand why you push Turkish TT, on a Japanese thread, as there is no link whatsoever.
But yeah anyway Turkish TT is full of copypaste from rank 1 to Rank 8
Check again ^^"
Thats quite a lot of USSR/Japanese vehicles, they need to do a lot more “prototype/concept” vehicles for Britain and esp Fr*nce, there are some really cool designs - i.e the TR2!
Or Nord-1500 Griffon II ^^"
(Would be fun with 2x Magic-1 and 2x30mm Defa ^^")
R2Y2 is another case where Gaijin didn’t understand the assignment, giving us the three conceptual designs for Ne-30 equipped R2Y2 with Ne-330 engines and fictional cannons that at this stage weren’t even planned.
The Ne-330 essentially removed the need for the fuselage mounted engine concepts, so V2 and V3 are unnecessary solutions to a problem that’s already been solved. But I’m not too familiar with the armament, so I can’t comment on how accurate they got that.
But even then, at least R2Y2 was a real design. J7W2/3 are post war speculation with no real basis to it. That’s like suggesting a prop driven Kikka, the parts might exist, but that doesn’t change the fact that there was never such a design.
From what I’ve seen Ki 162 is just speculation based on very limited info of Japan being interested in a He-162 like fighter. But if you have more sources on it and it is a real project, then that’d be great.
The J7W1 by the creators of the aicraft own words was that it was designed with the jet engine in mind from the very start, they just have not obtained the jet engine(also the engines was half done). Since they had no engine how exactly where they gonna plan for it into their design? However the Mitsubishi Ha-43 engine sucks in air and has a very jet-like effect, if the air intakes an feed that then a jet engine is not unfeasable. I honestly believe they do not need to do much to make it fit, unless the engine is to fat.
Yeah no finding anything on this mystery is even harder, my best bet is it would have been licence-built 1:1 copy. The Japanese forum may have something but I have no clue where to even look it up on that front…
R2Y2 existed on paper same as the F-16AJ
YF-16A adopted this
Do you have the proper blueprint? Only sources people have shown is from a book full of fakes.

after that unless u want classified stuff (I do not possess such material) ur gunna have to ask someone else
and about the R2Y2’s, I dont have it on my but i’m aware the japanese aerobatic museam has it
The R2 one is the most interesting if you can snag it up so we can take a look it would be nice. :D
