Hello I am wondering with the 4 fuel tank configuration, on the J35XS if it can mount Missles on the outside pylon? I cannot confirm based upon photo evidence and don’t have access to a J35 manual
You must also make sure the Draken you’re looking at is the same model as rhe finnish version. Iirc the j35 F has 4 hardppints for missiles but can place the fuel like in the image you have. The danish model can also mount like what you are referring too.
The J35XS is a J35F model that was exported to Finland, these also align based upon the IRST sensor located below the Nose of the aircraft. So if it is possible on a J35F to retain the All 6 sidewinder mounts while mounting fuel tanks on the outside pylons, it should theoretically be able to do it with the J35XS.
Not entirely, some models u derwent changes to their pylons to hold different things, the austrian j35F or its the danish i dont remember can only hold 4 missiles on its 6 pylons.
I understand but clearly at some point these Finnish J35XS’s were expanded to be able to mount 6 sidewinders, but I cannot find a fully underside shot of a Draken with 4 fuel tanks, so I cannot confirm the if the outside fuel tanks pylon is overlapping/conflicting with mounting of sidewinders on the outside pylons
Alright I was able to find something, that shows these are are on the same pylon, negate my previous argument
There is a good book that could answer this but ive been unable to find it. @ZendikarHaven might be able to help
