I get a measly 1.0 - 2.0 (never 2) KD in every plane i fly nowadays at all BRs. Nearly even in the constantly uptiered MIGS.
J7D is no different, apart from spare missiles to shoot AI. My best performer would F5 at same BR if i played it more…
Balancing is a non issue 9.7- 12.7 IMO.
The real pain is 8.3- 9.3 and to an extenct 13.0- but it still isnt the level of no flares vs 20g+ missiles in 99% games- wish i was exagerating.
Crying over a plane that has so many great choices around it is just weak
MiG-19 is extremely good.
Flareless 10.7s? There still being mass compression? J-7D being the same BR as worse jets?

There will.always be 1 or 2 planes that dont make sense. 9.7 jaguar and hunters are worse than anything you got 😂
I took the harrier out for a spin on friday as i used to just bomb and grind with it but damn it slaps.
7 games- 17 kills/ 4 deaths
The mig 19 would of taken me 17 games at least
But here’s the kicker. If i fought my self in harrier vs mig 19 id win every game in the MIG.
There is no balancing this and crying over the J7D when there is so many great planes around its BR is a just a skill issue.

I’m not defending the J-7D, i am asking you to please explain why it is good. I can go look at almost any other Mig and find better stuff about them so please explain instead of just saying i shoot down all arguments about it.

The J-7D’s advantages lie mainly in its airframe and missiles.
It has same airframe with MiG-21MF, but its engine is far better, and in terms of performance, it is almost better to the MiG-21SMT, which has a more powerful engine. In terms of acceleration up to just before VNE, there is little difference between the J-7D and the MiG-21SMT due to the former’s lighter airframe.
In terms of simple turning performance, it is better than the MiG-21MF/SMT because it has a lighter airframe and a better engine.
Also, the MiG-21MF/SMT is already quite good at its BR.
When it comes to missiles, the PL-5B is often used in most cases. Although the missile’s timeout period itself is not that long, it can reach its target faster than other “long-range” missiles such as the AIM-9G and R-13M1 within its lifetime. Also, since the PL-5B’s rocket motor has a relatively short burn time, the specs for the AAM’s diamond marker in the game mean that the target is almost always sent back to the hangar without noticing the missile.

Honestly, If the J-7D could only carry AAMs equivalent to the regular R-60s, it might have been justified to stay at 10.7BR, but the biggest problem is the missiles, so that is impossible.
It is ridiculous that the F-4F Early and F-104G(ROCAF) has the same BR as the J-7D.
